App Suggestions

I need your help. I want to unlock the full (stock) potential of this phone. Let's all suggest some apps that'll help achieve this goal. I'll start:

[Games] Shadow Gun: Dead Zone: is an awesome 3rd person multiplayer shooter. I've tried on Wifi (Verizon FiOs) and on Metros 4G and there was not a noticeable difference. The gameplay was smooth as the processor handles this game like it's nothing. And from my understanding, it's free!


[Personalization] Go Launcher Ex: If you've ever had an Android, at one point, you've used this home replacement app. Also, it's gotten better. And it's still free.

[Media] Hulu Plus & Netflix: I don't think I need to explain these either. I do want to say, I noticed zero buffering and lag on these two. Processor works great here, even with multiple apps running. They'll run you $6.99 and $7.99 per month, respectively. But both offer free trials (weekly and Netflix offers monthly), so you can just keep creating email address til you're ready to commit. Just remember that eventually, the Internet will run out of space!

[Web] Opera Mini & Opera Mobile: Mini with its speed and Mobile with its built in Flash player and Desktop/Mobile toggle and they both have exit buttons. Great browsing experience here that deserve a tryout. Both are free.

I'm not really much of a gamer. I have a couple of card games and minesweeper ultimate that I got from Amazon apps.

I like Holo launcher. It also is free.

For the Web, I'm currently using Dolphin browser. It works well for most content that I view on the Web. I figure that I will try out Chrome (once I get the Spirit that is). I've heard some things about it being slow and such, but I'll try it out and see for my self.

HBO - Showtime - Netflix - iMediashare to stream through DLNA from phone to TV

Dolphin browser mini & Dolphin browser

Rhapsody - Tunein radio pro

Go Launcher is good if your phone runs Android 2.2-2.3. I think it's kind of awful for anything ICS and above. I'm more preferential to Apex Launcher. Nova Launcher is nice, but you have to have the paid version to get options that Apex Launcher gives you for free. Holo Launcher is good, too, but it doesn't have as many options as Apex or Nova.

Other apps I would recommend are:

Games
I don't play too many games, but I love Fruit Ninja and Box It! 2. The former is good for mindless, stress-relieving fun. The latter is good for a bit of mental exercise. Jewel Stars is a good jewel puzzle game with nice modes and great special effects.

Personalization
Again, I really like Apex Launcher. I also go with Jelly Bean Apex/Nova Theme (by Photox Designs) for the pure Jelly Bean look. It has Jelly Bean wallpapers and updated icons. Nexus 4 Clock (by Chilis Apps) is also nice if you want the Nexus 4 clock widget on your home screen.

Media
TV Portal allows streaming of shows and movies. Not sure how legal it is but it's still up on Google Play. Crackle is not too bad, but the list of shows and movies is kind of limited. Dood's Music Streamer is a great app for streaming music. It was on Google Play for a long time but was recently taken down, probably due to legal issues.

Web
I'm a big fan of Dolphin Browser. I think it has the best user-interface (i.e., swiping edge for bookmarks) and the best options (i.e., privacy mode, flash support). It also looks like a desktop browser, and Dolphin Jetpack provides an extra boost of speed. However, I haven't updated past version 9.0.1 because I wasn't big on some of the changes to subsequent versions.

Productivity
For word processing, I like KingSoft Office. It pretty much has all the features of Microsoft Office and it's free. Notebooks (by Droidveda) is a great notebook app that has a pretty interface and some decent customization options.

eReader
I've tried so many different eReaders, but the two that I really like are iReader (by Zhangyue) and Moon+ Reader (by Moon+). I like both of these for the amount of options and customizations they allow. I especially like the dual-page book interface as well as the real page turn animations. Being able to assign your own book covers is also excellent. iReader is mainly a Chinese app but the menus are in English, so you can still use it with ease. The book store is in Chinese, though.

Weather
Eye In Sky (by Tim Clark) is my favorite weather app. It doesn't have a ton of features, but it's accurate and the interface is simple and gorgeous. You can even select between different sets of icons.
 
Great suggestions guys, thanks! I'm going to try Nova Prime and Apex! And TV Portal (lol) shhhhh.. And haven't tried Dolphin in ever, so that, too. I just want a good browser for STUFF lol.

For weather I use Weather bug.

Did you buy the $10 add on service for hot spot, or does it just work and you hope they don't figure out that you are tethering? I'm curious to find out.
