App to make screen brighter?

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
My logic is telling me this is a kernel thing but thought I'd ask.
My 2yr old LED display is get pretty dull lately but luckily its pretty even all over, no ghosting/relics, its just dull all over and needs more output power.
So could an app possibly do that with root access or is that something that needs a tweakable kernel?
Any ideas welcomed peeps thanks
PS i dont use auto-brightness so that isnt the issue ;)

Thanks guys and I know it's hardware, by 'kernel thing' I meant it's gonna require a kernel solution.
I worded my post terribly lol

The pixels are degrading so I wanna pump some more power into them.
Could software do that or only the kernel?

Probably a limitation of the hardware. I doubt you can do much fooling with kernels.

Well I could push more power to the display same as I could push more power to the audio amp or charging circuit with a kernel but ok I won't argue because what I was hoping for in the OP was an app

LED light output doesn't increase/decrease with voltage, like an incandescent bulb. An LED's maximum light output is its maximum light output (and is achieved as long as the voltage is sufficient to drive it). From there, LEDs can be "dimmed" by cycling the amount of time that the LED is cycled on (like a strobe light, except that it cycles on and off so fast that the human eye can't detect the strobe effect).

I'm pretty sure that when you set your brightness to maximum, the (strobe) cycle is 100% on (0% off) so there's no way to increase your phone screen's brightness.

Great reply mate thanks. I understand pulse cycling from a lighting job I had.
Makes sense.
Wish I'd claimed it on my warranty before it expired a few weeks ago :D:beer:
