app to turn off phone when battery low?

Samsung gives a stern warning about not letting battery drain too low before charging, but of course that can happen - maybe one sleeps? Is there an app that will shut the phone off after hitting a predetermined spot, say 15% of battery?
 
I don't know of an app but the warning does make sense, with a non removable Li-ion battery if the voltage gets too low the built in chip won't allow it to charge because the current draw would be so high that there's a chance for over heating and then explosive venting. I've seen a couple of videos and it's not a pretty sight.

That does make sense...no wonder my phone use to blink like 30 times when I plugged it in. Eventually it would start charging....very interesting.
 
Where is this warning? The user manual does not mention this. I have always let my battery run down with no issues. One of the ways to calibrate the battery is to fully charge it and then fully deplete it the fully charge it again.
 
One on occasion, I let the battery get to 5% (overnight), screen warning was explicit - lower and the battery could be ruined. another time I saw warning at 12%. And I had thought that flat linning it before charging was ok, so I was surprises, and so hoped for an app to prevent this.
 
that'sinteresting i have i have not let mine go down that far but i will just to see. not much point in having a big battery of you can't use all of it.
 
I have let mine run down to 5% and have not seen a warning other than to connect a charger ant kill any running apps so that the charger can be more efficient.

I contacted Samsung and here is the their answer.

By the way, it took a whole 3 minutes to contact and get an answer via chat. Samsung tech support get an A+++ from me.

Samantha : I am sorry, there are no such reported issues with us. I apologize for the inconvenience. If the battery is down, it will not damage/explode.

Samantha : You're welcome.
 
My AT&T Note II stock gets a warning pop up around 15% or so. I have only seen it a couple of times since it never got that low on a normal day.
 
I tried to screen shot the 15 % warning, but of course it was on start screen and phone wouldn't take. Said, paraphrasing, that the battery should be recharged now, or it would for take a full charge... I though about taking it further to read the sterner warning I saw at 3%, but considered that a too bold move.

The s-pen hold button and touch screen method to take screenshot should work on every screen.
