Apple at it again, now targets SGN in the USA

Wow.. Apple. Just Wow.

And good ole Apple Insider. Always good for a laugh...lol. I have yet to join that site. I do go there to see some of the blind followers of anything Apple. It is nice to see the unbiased posts or the ones that are pro Android too.

Saw this earlier. Apple's patent wars are getting absolutely ridiculous.
1. Google Voice search ring a bell? It's been around LONG before Siri.
2. So basically, according to Apple's logic, my unlock screen which allows me to spin in a circle for as long as I want in every which way and either unlock my phone or go straight to my camera is the same as Apple's little bar that only unlocks. Right. Makes perfect logical sense...
3. The LG Rumor Touch feature phone that I had for a year and a half before upgrading to my GNex had text correction. As did the LG Rumor I had before that (not touch, but it's the same thing) so I'm a bit lost as to where this is coming from.

Apple is just pulling at strings to try and take down Android for whatever reason. The patent trolling is getting ridiculous and it's getting really old really fast. Apple continues to try and sue time and time again. Hey Apple, ever heard of Pull-Down Notifications? It's a bit ridiculous that Apple and Samsung are at each other's throats when Samsung supplies ~30% of the parts for the iPhone...

Well this isn't just the US. They are asking the EU for a preliminary injunction as well.

Apple's preliminary injunction is a way for them to try to ban import, yet at the same time not test the validity of their patents. If they lose the injunction, they just can't ban sales. But if they lose the patent challenge, then they lose a lot more.

Apple does have some patents that Android "may" infringe on. The real question is that if those patents were improperly granted, which I believe they were.

First, there are plenty of prior art.

Secondly, a patent has to protect something that isn't obvious.

My question is why isn't Google patenting lots of Android? They need some counter ammunition to fight the ridiculous Apple trolling.

I think I read somewhere they can't patent features in Android because it's open source. But I really don't know.

I think you're right. Everything except for the Gapps are open source.

Still, Google needs to start doing something to protect itself.

The reason is that they're seeing their stranglehold on the smartphone market slip because of android. Google has a product that's all around more accessible than Apple's offerings, and is growing rapidly. They can't beat Android with their current business model, and since they're incapable of adapting to a changing marketplace, they try to sue all competition into submission. The super hip and trendy Apple is starting to look more and more like the stubborn old codger that won't change his ways no matter how obvious it is that it's the wrong way to go.

Why can't they just compete in the free market? Why compete in the courts?
Because they literally can't compete. They're completely proprietary and overpriced. Android is open and considerably more affordable, on every carrier, and has dozens and dozens of phone models to chose from.

If it weren't for the legion of blinded Apple fanboys, I'd say Apple's days are numbered in the smartphone world... but frankly considering how much they overcharge their customers, we know they can stay afloat for a LONG time even with a diminished consumer base.

So just curious, but what happens if apple wins the lawsuit? does google stop supporting the phone? does samsung stop selling it and accesories for it?

I'm just curious lol

my bet is that they will do some update to remove the feature (slide to unlock) to sale again.

You can't throw a rock and not hit an Apple lawsuit... and then I read this the other day.

Apple has more cash than it needs, CEO says | Fox News

My favorite thing about apple is their unbeatable over-priced motivation to make me buy something else.

Thanks apple, you have created & perfected the rule that in technology, there is ALWAYS something better and less expensive than your ridiculous crap.

I always keep meaning to do something with a domain I picked up.
