I wonder how truthful this is. Coming from Gizmodo, I can't necessarily trust their reporting.

I do not see this as a big issue. Do you folks expect the folks at Apple to openly welcome the Android or its products? Query: Would the Android Market welcome Apple related products?

Guess apple don't want their fanboys to realize there is something better out there.

In the end its apples store and they can do what they want. Just like a casino can ask you to leave for no reason at all and never come back.

It just shows how much android has hurt apple and not to mention at@t dragging their feet on expanding their 3g network. Has made the iPhone a joke.

I wonder how many times jobs wishes he would of went with Verizon or sprint with the iPhone launch.
 
You guys just don't get it!

That app was buggy! It wasn't written to apple's standard of quality, and caused problems for anyone who downloaded it.. the problems included but, were not limited to, wanting a more open platform, heresy, the blue screen of death, and red ring of death on apple devices!

Hey maybe when Apple's stock starts falling they will block access to it in the stocks app and everywhere in the net.

Hey maybe Apple should also restrict the operating system so people would have to hack it every time they want a well made app that does not belong to apple's evil empire --- OHHHH I FORGOT - THEY ALREADY DID THIS :(

I meant as in if the quote by the Apple rep is real or not. From what I understand, they will send it through email why it has been rejected or not. He should have evidence then that he could show as proof. I'm just very weary on he said, she said kind of stuff. This falls on the line of tabloid gossip for now.

Yep, that's right. And with them Android also (if it wasn't popular already :p ). And well, we must admit that Apple didn't think that Android platform would become so popular in just a few years. Of course also the Android market really grows bigger each month. And now we wait for Android Market Music store which will also hurt Apple.
 
Funny that I stumbled across this.

I saw the news story this weekend and I realized that I'm so sick of Apple's walled garden. Sure I felt that way before, but this was probably the icing on the cake.

I like the new amazon commercials where the girls buys a ton of e-books on her iphone, and then is able to switch to android and still have all her books :D:D

I would have believed that when they were a private company... but no more.

But yes.. it's amusing to see that there are Apple oriented apps on the Android market but none on the Apple market.
Then again... who makes the choice at Apple?
It's most likely some pimple faced 20 year old that's at his dream job making just over minimum wage, and he loves Apple unconditionally for hiring him.

I say give Apple the rope, let Apple hang itself with that rope.. because they will.

The truth is power reveal corruption.

Just because people don't have the power to do something doesn't mean they aren't corrupt.

And just because people have power doesn't mean they are going to inherently abuse it.

I hate the assumption people aren't corrupt until they have power.. Because, until they have power they haven't had a chance to really show their inner demons..

Actually, no. Hence, the FTC investigations. As long as Apple is a niche player in a market, this is true, but if they get any serious market share (like with iOS), then they can be prosecuted for Anti-Competitive practices.
 
I was reading this the other day. It is kind of funny. I honestly see no reason for them to ban like this... unless they are afraid of something! ;)

I like their style.

1. Rip off another companies patented idea and product.
2. Profit
3. Sue them.
4. ?????
5. Lose lawsuit
6. Pay huge settlement for stealing idea/product
7. Profit

Bunch of wankers, and they keep getting away with it over and over again.

your post confuses me...

you worry about google getting to powerful... and need apple to keep it in check...

but want to give apple room to fail....

I do agree with you about google.. getting a too confident and out of control... There maybe need of some checks and balances...
 
There is a basic difference between Google and Apple:

Apple is the one that is over-controlling and draconian in its policies. Their OS is not open sourced like Android and their policy is shady at best.

Google started the Android with the clear purpose of keeping it open sourced and our OS is by nature more democratic and inclusive, and honestly, I don't it holds on its own against the iPhone, with the added bonus of not having to add an idiotic "i" in front of every frikking app/software/device/portal, etc, etc, etc...

I definitely think that it is wrong for Apple to not allow the app on the grounds that it is about and promotes Android, one of its competitors. However, if I worked at Apple and had the power to disapprove such an app, you bet I would.

Now the effects of this is to give some press to the magazine. If this hadn't happened, I probably would never have heard of this Android magazine app or its publisher. If anything, it's probably a brilliant marketting move, if in fact this was his plan all along. He wins because it would be news either way.

I wonder if anyone tried to put an Apple magazine app in the Android market place. I'd be interested if one were there. I'll check it later.

In any case, I don't think Google is exactly clean either. Google has been allegedly putting its own sites on Google searches ahead of other sites. I don't like the practice, but if I worked at Google and had the ability to do this, I definitely would.
