Apple is doing it again!

:ditto: and I own Mac Book Pro, 27 inch iMac and iPad2. Come on Apple poor excuse to keep down a competitor that's got ya really worried about losing market share. That doesn't change the fact I'm scraping my iPhone 4s for the Note II due here this week.

Ditto. I love my MacBook Pro and iPad 3 but this crap is just getting out of hand. Apple had the lead in the smartphone market for a couple years, no doubt, but decided to rest on their laurels while everyone else caught up. Now, Samsung, has caught up and instead of pushing the envelope and being innovative, as they like to consider themselves, Apple has opted to sue, sue, sue until they get their way. iPhone 5 was a joke really IMO. Calling it the best thing to happen to iPhone since the iPhone is really showing how arrogant Apple has become (well, even more so than usual). For a company that brands itself as innovative and leading edge, their best idea for the new iPhone was to take a iPhone 4S and make it longer? Yeah, really cutting edge there Apple. Note 2 is the way to go.

I wonder how apple would feel knowing I used my iphone 4s, iphone 4, and two iphone 3gs for in store credit to buy my note 2. AT&T gave me 571.00 for all four phones.

Apple needs to go back to innovating, not trying to sue other companies for money. Bad for investor relations. Bad for customer relations. Bad for innovation. Why sue for a billion, lose focus on moving the evolution of smartphones forward, and keep on making the same thing for 5 years? Extending one extra row of icons is not innovation. Neither is trying to put more pixels per square inch when you can't see them, making an already zippy processor more zippier, and making an already thin phone a hair thinner.

Let's not forget, it's Apple that started this. The others are only defending against Apples warped claims.

Apple Kills Android Search!

Let's not be so complacent we fail to keep up with the destruction within the industry Apple is creating. If they were on the brink of collapse unable to sell iDevices due to the theft of significant Apple elements, that would be one thing. But that's not the case. Not even close.

Make no mistake I'm a cross platform enthusiast, using Windows, OS X, Linux, iOS, Android.

Apple is blatantly playing the bully, having competitive products banned from sale, and contributing to the decay of the industry. Absurd behavior in the highest degree. Read this article. See how that cripples _Every Android_ phone.

"Apple Forces Google To Degrade Android Features"

Posted by timothy on Saturday July 07, @01:26PM

"The latest in the ridiculous saga of the patent dispute between Apple and Samsung, which has resulted in Samsung phones and tablets being banned from sale in the U.S. is that Samsung, with the help of Google, has been pushing out an over-the-air software update to make its phones worse.

Yes, the OTA update is designed to take away a feature, in an effort to convince the judge that the phones no longer violate Apple's patents.

The feature in question?
The ability to do a single search that covers both the local device and the internet."

Once you've read this if you still think it won't effect you, perhaps you just don't "get it".

Apple has gone from a Company I once regarded highly, to a venom spewing, highly toxic force. At this rate, after decades as a loyal Apple customer I'm about to divest myself of all things Apple, shifting from advocate, to major detractor. When I turn around & look behind me, the line of fellow detractors is growing longer by the moment.

Just to add fuel to the fire...

And on Apple forums you will see exactly the same post against Samsung and HTC.

Its tit for tat. Samsung have half inched a load of designs from Apple (which I understand they still haven't paid following hearings), and Apple have tech from Samsung.

Apple still produce one of the best computers available. They seem to have concentrated their efforts on court rather than on their mobile devices of late, granted. But why hate a company for trying to protect its intellect according to current patent laws?!

There are an awful lot of facts wrapped up in these cases and we mere mortals do not see the details.

As I said before, its tit for tat.

And if anyone wants to argue the point, put a 3gs next to a Samsung s and tell me they ain't similar?! ...that was the starting point for these bitter battles.

And mods.....hardly GN2 specific debate!? The new infringements implied by apple cover a host of Sammy devices!

Google Maps return to iPhone with new mobile app
[/FONT]

Apple's maps proved to be far inferior to Google's. The product's shoddiness prompted Apple CEO Tim Cook to issue a rare public apology and recommend that iPhone owners consider using Google maps through a mobile Web browser or seek other alternatives until his company could fix the problems. Cook also replaced the executive in charge of Apple's mobile operating system after the company's maps became a subject of widespread ridicule.

Google releases Maps for iOS – Should Apple or Android users be mad?

I may be wrong but I don't think NFC is a Samsung technology.

That's most likely Google.

Just found this. ..

According to TechIPm, "As of Oct. 20 2009, the key IPR holders and their IPR shares for NFC are as follows: Sony (229), Nokia (130), Microsoft (76), Philips (67), Broadcom (65), Samsung (58), Motorola (57), NXP (43), First Data (22), Qualcomm (22), IBM (19), Vodafone (18), and Inside Contactless (17)."

There's a problem when you start trying to patent rounded corners.

agree and I dont get it how come that patent got through.
Imagine if someday apple decided to make furniture, they might want to file for 4 legs on a furniture as their patent also
