Apple is screwed... lol

? I dont get it... are you trying to downplay the Galaxy Nexus? Because by looking at that chart the i5 is superior in every way, better camera, thinner, much faster processor. Dont. Compare a year old phone to a brand new one it just doesnt work

riiiight,

the only place it has an advantage is processor chip.

again, what does thinness have to do with performance and capability?

and a few months after the lg optimus g is released another phone will be released thats even better than that one.

thats how it goes with android.

You missed my point entirely. Obviously there will be better phones down the line. But at least LG is making an effort to address the things people have had the biggest issues with on their phones in the past. Heck, not just address them, but do so with new innovative technology not seen on any phone yet. Let's be real, the S3 is a good phone made from a nice collection of hardware, but there's nothing really innovative about it.

.3 megapixels! Wow! I can't believe Google didn't try to steal themselves a newer processor or rip off a few patents that weren't theirs to begin with. Not impressed. Not seeing how that phone is really superior to much more than the iPhone it's replacing. Think they are gonna need a few more bogus lawsuits to knock out some competition on this one.

and how is that any different in this case? the Lg optimus g is also a good collection of hardware that are improved versions of hardware already out there.

nothing new here, just better.

processor chip, the camera is much better on the 5 then it is on the galaxy nexus, hell the 4S camera is better then the Galaxy Nexus and i came from a 4S to a S3...

i was comparing the 2 phones to each other, so tell me what can android do that iOS cant? talking about a non rooted android because that's the majority of android users... like i said i came from a 4S to a Galaxy S3 and both phones can do the same thing, same apps, same functionality, i dont really see anythign my S3 can do that my 4S couldnt do... im talking about a non rooted android because i know rooted androids you can do alot with them.

look dude the facts are there, i dont get how people are saying this phone has old technology... it just blows my mind, it has the fastest GPU on the mobile market, possibly the fastest CPU on the market also since it might be a ARM Cortex a-15 processor which would make Apple the first ones to the market with it.. no this isnt apple fanyboyism, its just straight facts and im ok with it because i am satisfied with my GS3, it still is a top tier phone as so is the i5

Fine, you win dude. So enjoy your S3. I'll enjoy mine too for the next couple of months. Then I'll upgrade to a device from a company that's truly making an effort to deliver a real high-end flagship device.

Because being a blind fanboy is not exclusive to iPhone owners. I think the best thing to do is to just stop trying to make an objective argument against folks with fiercely subjective opinions.

Because you got people claiming the tech inside the phone is a year old when its clearly not, only a brainwashed android fan would say otherwise... look im not trolling im just speaking the truth, the i5 is up to todays android smartphones hardware wise as it usually is when a new iphone ia launched. Plus im sure your not speaking for everyone? Just because it fell short of the expecations for you doesnt mean it did for the next person. Alot of people are pleased with the new i5 and alot of peoole arent... its the same thing every year, cant please everyone

Really... Then explain why the illustrious iPhone can't even do voice/data at the same time on Verizon and Sprints networks. That is something that has been able to be done since the Thunderbolt was released and the newer phones can do.

relax fellas,

im not saying the GS3 is the best phone known to man. it had that title for maybe a month and phones are already coming out with better stuff. thats how fierce the competition is. if the LG optimus was coming to metroPCS along with the GS3 i'd get that instead and pay top dollar for it.

thats not gonna happen so i'll have to settle for a spectacular phone in the GS3. hell of a consolation prize if you ask me.

I don't understand why people go with IPhone's. Spec wise galaxy s3 is so much better for the same price for a 16gb and so forth. Is it just because it looks "cute" to some people? I personally think S3 is good looking and saved money instead of wasting. Apple is trying too hard to make their phones amazing. They didn't really make a big jump. I have heard rumors at my school that some are just gonna go to 4 to a 4s. I gave advice to get the s3 to some people and they so agree with me. That's all.

I think everyone looks a little goofy using self-checkouts.

Bill Burr actually has a very funny skit on self-checkouts.. I'm sure it exists somewhere on youtube. :D

edit: here it is!... start at 2:12 Bill Burr (Let it Go) - Chain Stores - YouTube

Heheh, well I'm just generalizing, of course. :D

My opinion on the iPhone's popularity is that their user-base needs/wants technology to work for them with minimal technical effort on their part, which BTW I don't mean that as a criticism - more power to them. I was likening the self-service-grocery-checkout to that. Otherwise to me it's a simple task considering how long we've had ATM's and in-store debit systems integrated into our society. To me, self-checkout is the natural next step, and in a world that loves touchpad devices, it amazes me how hard it seems for them to adapt to self-checkout. I dunno, maybe it's just me. :D

If this is a serious question, then you are doing it wrong! I've never rooted any of my Android phones and I have a list a mile long of things I can do that ios cannot do. Just off the top of my head; live wallpapers, widgets, 3rd party apps, app drawer, arrange icons the way I want them, replace icons, replace the launcher, modify the dock (scrolling, etc), data and voice at the same time (Verizon), etc.

I would think longer and add more features, but I don't think you are really listening anyway. ;)

i'm not going to get into the arguement of tech or whatnot.

apple is hardly screwed. with the number of women and tweens looking for a phone, there will always be a strong customer base for the iphone.

my wife has an incredible and will be jumping ship to apple come release day. why? she has an ipad and likes the UI better than android. i think she's just tired of using a 2.5yr old phone, but whatever. =P

AnandTech - Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (Krait) Performance Preview - 1.5 GHz MSM8960 MDP and Adreno 225 Benchmarks

Actually, the 225 in the snapdragon s4 delivers performance better than the PowerVR in the A5 when scaled down to its resolution, but it doesn't matter since the 320 is coming with the newer Androids anyway and delivers 3x the performance of the 225. And what the hell do you think an S4 is? Its based off cortex A-15 and was introduced the first quarter of this year, old news practically. The A6, may not be A15 at all, do you know why every single LTE smartphone this year has the S4? Its because its the only one that can run LTE in the US, seeing that Samsung couldn't even provide an Exynos a15 chip for its flagship device do you think it could pump out one for the iPhone? Its possible, but I think unlikely, we'll see when the full specs are released.

a15 chip (possibly)- old news, the One X had that early this year
Upgraded PowerVR- on par possibly with Adreno 320
Big whoop

So the iPhone 5 is on par with Android, finally, as we've discussed. None of this matters, people don't buy the iPhone because of its specs. It will sell well.

"The A6, may not be A15 at all,"

I'll repeat my link below. Apple have already SAID it is an A6 and if you look at the Wikipedia page for Iphone 5 iPhone 5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it specifies an A6.

iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2: spec comparison | ITProPortal.com

Furthermore, several posters here have pointed out the seamless connectability of Apple products but the I5 will have a different design of USB connector so they'll have to buy an adapter to connect it to older Apple products unless the adapter is included with the phone.

A6 here is an Apple part name.

A9 and A15 refer to Arm Cortex cpu names, one or the other being used in the A6, likely the A9.

Exactly why Wikipedia editors called the inclusion of A15 cores "dubious."

Well, being as that shipments are already back-ordered 2 weeks or more after ONLY 3 hours of pre-order.... well, you be the judge. :)

I don't know. Can they be sued for having a bigger screen size and thinner and lighter phone altogether in their iPhone5? That's like copying the feel of Samsung devices, right? LOL

Why does is matter if it's HD or not? the dpi is still higher than Android phones because it's a 4" screen and not a 4.5" or 4.8" screen. It will still look just as good.

But the specs are better than most Android phones, GPU that's twice as fast as anything on Android and they are first with the new Cortex A15 while most Android phones are using Quad Core Cortex A9.

The only CPU we have simalar is Qualcomms Snapdragon S4., however Adreno 225 is very poor compared to the latest from PowerVR.

not better DPI/HD screen than my sony xperia s
