Apple Jumps, Android Slips

Well I never!

It seems that Apple has been taking share from Android in the US!

According to one bean counter, Android's lead over Apple has slipped from 19.3% to a mere 12.8% since October.

The end is nigh!

Does anyone feel sorry for poor old RIM though?

"Apple Jumps, Android Slips" .... and Blackberry is a sinking ship.

The article focuses on the US market. The new BB phone isn't available until April, I believe, so it is expected that BB would not be making gains in the first quarter of this year.

And Symbian is in Davy Jones' Locker. Why is there no love for them?

RIM is for business folk with their power ties, Uhura earpieces and a fondness for letting you know that they're e-mailing you from the toilet. I can live without that! ;)

Can we not show love for all creeds of devices?

The problem with statistical evaluation is the data can be interpreted or swayed to achieve the end result you desire. This is a large reason why one scientific team will aggregate data, then pass said data to a completely different team to analyze. Thus removing the tendancy to get the result you want.

Stastics are a great tool for quality control of a manufacturing process, determining what the human populace will do, not so much.

I do not like to see any company suffer.

I wonder why so many people worry about what Android and/or Apple is doing. Not sure it matters. If you like Apple, does it really matter if they are ahead? Or Android for that matter?

Not a bit, but that is kinda like saying, if you like baseball, does it really matter if your team is ahead or not :)
Well, to be fair, many of the baseball fans I know appear far more interested in rattling off obscure statistics about the players than actually following the progress of the game.

Them: "Did you know that so-and-so batted .303 in the minors, which is exactly what Ty Cobb averaged during the first 13 games of the 1913 season? And so-and-so's number is 13!!! Isn't that amazing?!?!?"

Me: "Where's the beer guy? I need more...much more..."

Did someone say beer? :D

I know a few software engineers who write code in Linux, but have iPhones. I also work for a pseudo big corporation, so I still see a lot of BB devices.

Everyone else has android, so it's all good. ;)

Anti did hit the nail on the head, hence the stastical variation post. One site sees red in the data, another site sees blue. All I see is blonde, brunette, red head.... :p
