Apple to Call USB 3.0 Port Rival Thunderbolt

The reason they make people license accessories for their products is to make sure that companies dont put out shit accessories like a charger that will damage your device.

I disagree, they love to license the accessories for the money. How do you explain the fact that any of the chargers that worked for the iPods will not work with the iPod touch (in fact the charger I had wouldn't even work between generations of iPod touches)? Same port, however when you hook them up it will tell you that the charger is not designed for that iDevice.

Also when they released the iPod touch they moved the headphone jack to the bottom of the phone (one of the stupidest designs EVER), which basicly made any car dock you had for the iPod useless.

Apple might want to throw out the line about wanting to make sure everything is "high quality" but that is just their little code for "we are going to make you buy all new accessories everytime we make a minor upgrade to a product."

If Apple started licensing iOS to other manufacturers, as I think they should if they are to remain in the game long-term, then I think HTC, Motorola, Samsung, etc. would jump on the iOS bandwagon so fast there'd be smoke trails.
