i'm not very knowledgeable about the appstore since i've never used it but a few things that come to mind:
browsers - afaik, until recently you couldn't use anything but safari on an iphone (?) and i'm quite sure android has the upper hand in choice still
is there any app to overclock the iphone, like setcpu etc. for android?
how about emulators? i know apple used to say no to those, is this still the case?
Probably fair points.
Actually, you can run opera on an iPhone and a quick search of the app store revealed a number of other browsers that are available as well. Android probably does have a more competitive marketplace for browsers, but part of the reason for that is that Safari actually works pretty well on an iPhone/iPod Touch.
Not seeing anything to overclock an iPhone. Then again, Apple is pretty picky about what it allows in the market, and if it won't run smoothly on stock hardware, it probably isn't going to get approved, so there's not as much of a need for that as there is on an Android phone where, as those of us with older phones are well aware, processor speed can have a big impact upon your experience.
Not seeing anything of consequence regarding emulators.
With all of that said, though, my overarching point is that by and large, the selection of apps on the Android market and the Apple App Store is quite similar, if you need to accomplish something, there's probably "an App for that" regardless of which platform you're using, and Apple's finicky approval process and the utter dominion it exerts over developers hasn't really resulted in an absence of choice for most things. I still stand by that.
