What app would I use to make a list of my programs installed? I keep getting some funky music playing randomly and i can't figure out where it's coming from so i want to do a complete hard reset on phone but want to make sure i have the list backed up
If all you want is a list, install appbrain from the android market. Not only can you make a list of all your installed applications, but you can browse the market from their site.
I use app dragon. It will create a list and you can email it to yourself. Then just open up gmail and you have a list on screen to show what apps you need to reinstall.
Another vote for Appbrain - although I'm pretty sure it only covers market apps - cuz I don't see Swype or apps that I got from "Unknown Sources" like the SlideMe marketplace. But it's also a good way to look at your apps -by size, & category.
I haven't tried out the "uninstall via their site" feature yet.
If you have a file manager app installed you can also just browse to /data/app and copy/paste the .apk's of the apps you dont want to lose (sdcard is where i put mine so i can reinstall on the fly if need be). You will probably have to allow apps from unknown sources to install the .apks (menu>settings>applications). This method will allow you to reinstall your apps without having to re-download (also you have the installer in case a dev update screws up the program).
just go to the market and look at the 'Download' list...? that tells me everything i have on it... (i am not rooted 'yet' so if this is different under that circumstance...)
