Help Applications will not update

I am having trouble updating any applications that are already on my sd card or that auto install to sd card. If I unmount my sd card they will install fine and then I can move them to the sd card but this is very annoying. Also angry birds will not update it says out of memory (I have over 4gig available on my sd card and nearly the same if not more on internal storage). I am going to reformat my sd card and see if that fixes the issue. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

It is not your SD card - this is an issue with the /data/data partition on the Incredible filling up from caches of various apps.

If you go to settings, applications and go through the big ones and clear the caches it can often help.

On my Incredible I had to go through and delete cache on nearly every app, delete data for google earth, and also stopped syncing contacts with Facebook etc. Once I did that I was able to update/install apps again.

It is a common, known issue with this device. Google for "out of memory Droid Incredible" and you will find hundreds of pages, including some forum posts here.

or just go into the Support sub-forum, and there is THE thread on this issue stickied on top. Which is where these posts will be moved as soon as a mod spots them.
