apps always running?

I downloaded "Advanced Task Manager" to play around with. So I started playing with it, went in and killed some running apps, then closed out. Went back in and some of those apps are running again. For example, one is a game my wife was playing last night. I've since rebooted, and it still shows as running. I go in and kill it again, close task manager, open back up and that same game i just killed is running again.

What gives? How do I disable certain apps from "always running"? And why does it do that?

Any input is appreciated.

i think it works this way with most android devices, app managers usual dont do allot except use your battery up, most apps will run in the background to check for updates and such there is a whole lot of reasons the apps/games will run in background there isnt that much you can do about them,

theres was an option in settings on 2.2 where you could stop programs running in the background but i cant find it on my iconia settings
