Help Apps deleting off SD Card

Hi I have a Samsung S4 and can install apps to my phone and move them to my SD Card, however if I reboot my phone I get a message saying 'Application is not Installed'. The app icon also changes to a box with the Android Robot and a smaller box with SD written inside. I go to Application Settings and try and move the greyed out apps back to my phone from the SD Card and again get the message 'Application is not Installed'. Can you help?

I'm using a SanDisk 64 GB card and use this to store most of my games and photos to free up space on my phone. The weird thing is I can see and access photos on my SD Card.

KK no longer allows Apps to be stored on SD cards

Interesting - nobody told my Verizon-based S4 running KK 4.4.2 that it couldn't. I just loaded another app to the SD to make sure I didn't miss something. However, I think it IS true that the app has to be updated to do this, and maybe not all carriers allow it.

Thanks for your replies! So if I factory reset my phone and avoid the update do you think it will allow me to add apps to my SD Card again? It's so annoying they do this. May avoid android in future because of this. It's the main reason I chose the Samsung and they deceive you about the amount of space available on the phone and now over the SD Card.

A factory reset will not remove KiKat so you may need to consider rooting. To be fair to Samsung the SD card issue is thanks to Google.

Thanks again for your replies and that link Riche. That explained a lot about why they've done this. Maybe I missed it but some communication to customers would have been useful here by Google or Samsung.
