Root Apps disappeared after taking out SD card

Hi

Strange happenings. I took out my 4gb card and put in a 2gb one in order to make a Gold Card. When that was done I returned my 4gb card to the phone and loads of apps have simply disappeared including the Market app. They're not even in the app launcher menu and I can't see them when I go into Manage Applications in settings.

Who took them and how can I get them back?

In settings I have checked that the card is mounted. Also I've got app2sd with a 1gb EXT partition although I can't check it as I can't download Quick System Info. (running Ginger Villain 1.6)

I checked in Manage Applications again and it seems they are there but not available. They're listed as:
"com.abc.organizer.lite"
"com.handcent.nextsms"
"com.android.vending"
etc.

and they all have the same greyed out icon with a little sd card picture

Also I found this fix by someone else having the same problem.

Should I do it even though I'm on a Desire not a Droid X? And if I do, how do I install an apk file from my phone?

Success! (partial) - I followed the instructions in that link and managed to get the Market App back.

Now I need to figure out how to restore the rest of the apps. They're hiding in there somewhere.

Done.

I had to reinstall each 'missing' app from the Market. Once installed, settings and data for each app were as before.

Tedious....

In case this happens to anyone else, here's the link again with instructions on restoring the Market App.
