How are channels managed? Does the whole thread belongs in there (with the other apps too) or just a description of the app?

The developer can post an announcement thread in there and interact with users. Any thread about the app can be grouped in this area to increase visibility. Any threads that should be in there can be moved in by the mods, as well as removing threads or spam.

Threads in a channel also show in the broader Android Apps & Games forum so folks don't have to go directly to your channel to see your content. It also works with our forum app in that a user with your app installed can tap on the app within the forum app and ask questions. That will create a new thread within the channel visible from the web or within the app.
 
There is no harm creating a channel for any app you want to talk about. Just make sure you are being constructive, and not just a shill. Folks come here all the time to chat about apps they are fans of, or learn more about apps that may make their lives better. Channels just help organize them a little bit without hiding them off in obscure subforums.
 
Just a note, I moved this to the suggestion box area so we can keep the apps & games area focused on apps and games while we have a platform discussion. :)
