Apps grid vs. list alphabetical list view

On my current phone I changed the view to list the applications alphabetically. For some reason I find it very difficult to find an app I want with the default grid view. Playing with a nexus 4 in a shop today I could not work out how to do this. Is it possible? If not is there some app that makes it possible on a nexus 4??

I was just about to say mine is alphabetical, but then I remembered I'm using Nova Launcher.

I always recommend this launcher no matter what phone you have.

I don't think you can with the Nexus range. My S2 has the option, but then Nexus doesn't. I think it's because it has apps and then widgets all part of the same menu.

The stock launcher only has one option; alphabetical.

I downloaded it and tried it yesterday. Very impressed! Deleted Apex launcher and now I'm using Nova. Makes everything run smoother.
