Help Apps keep re-installing after reset

Can somebody tell me how to reset the phone without the APPs re-installing,?
I reset it through privacy , but after phone boots up and I add Google account my desktop wallpaper is the same and all apps still apper and try re-installing,
My Droidx ver;2.2.1

All you need to do is after you activate the phone do not sign into your Google account, skip it for now. Once you get to the home screen press menu >settings >Privacy Settings, then place a check mark in "back up my data" then remove the check mark from "Automatic Restore". Now go back and sign into your Google account, you still may have some of the Google apps install but that should be it.
