Root Apps not allowed for download

I'm trying to download apps like barnacle or a wifi tethering app, however it says that these apps are not compatible with my carrier. Is there a workaround?

the carrier doesn't know if you're tethering or not. What will happen is if you go over your data limit, they'll shut you down or send you a huge bill
