Help Apps not updating. Unknown reason -18?

Nagrom

Android Expert
Hi kids.

Over the last few weeks I've had problems updating from the market. Most apps update fine, but on a few, I'm getting the following error message.

"update unsuccessful. Unknown reason-18"

Been fine untill about a month ago.
I've upgraded to the new market, but I had this issue before.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Andy.

I had this problem for ages.
Tried everything!

Ended up just wiping and flashing a new ROM. LOL

Having found this problem and reading from another forum which suggested moving all apps off the sd card and deleting the .android_secure folder
- Something I haven't tried yet.

Instead, I connected the phone to the PC in disk drive mode. This temporarily disables the sd card from the phone.
While connected this way, I re tried installing the offending app. (renverse)

This worked.

I may try the extreme method, but for now, It's OK

Certainly, some updates of apps moved to SD have failed until I have moved them back to the phone.

Thanks for the link. Deleting the file worked for me.

I couldn't see the file via the handset. I had to plug it into a PC and delete
from there. Even being rooted with a rooted explorer didn't work.

OK...I'm having that same problem when I am trying to update Angry Birds...which is very important!! :)

BUT...I don't understasnd what you guys aret alking about and where to remove a file from. Talk to me like I am a "phone reject". Oh wait...I am :)

Thanks!!

The solution: move all the apps back to phone, put your microSD into a card reader and delete .android_secure folder. That's it!

This work for me

My friends having the same problem we plugged his phone into pc and didn't see the file smdl2tmp1.asec where is it at?

Thank you and everyone on this thread. This was driving me crazy, and Green Mountain Digital was NO HELP. (Three weeks of "We're working on it....") I deleted the smdl2tmp1.asec file, which lurks in the android.secure folder and life can go on now.
I'm going to email them this fix.

Isn't it great! My friend is all fixed now too cauise we googled and found this thread. My phone quit syncing and Sprint nor HTC had a clue and I goodled EVO not syncing and didn't get much but when I changed it to Android phone not syncing I found out out I had low disk space and needed to free up space. That was all it was and Sprint nor HTC had a clue.
