Apps on SD...Where?

So I picked up apps to sd pro from the amazon app store and I started to transfer my apps to my sd card. After I completed the transfer I looked on my sd card and could not find them anywhere. As a test, I took out my sd card and put in a new 1 and low and behold, all of my apps continued to work even though I transfered them to a completely different sd card. So this begs the question:

When you move your apps from the phone to the sd card, where the hell are they actually going?

For me they went to the internal SDCARD, not the micro SDCARD called SDCARD-EXT.
But I soon put them all back to the phone.
Too much hassle with losing their home screen links when I use the usb to my pc.
And the X2 has more than enough internal memory for apps.
