Help apps soft key not working

Have had my HTC desire s for about a month now and just this morning the apps soft key has stopped working. Well more accurately it doesn't work straight away when I unlock the phone. After a short while it works again.
Also the home key seems to be behaving in a similar fashion.

Should I try updating the firmware?
If so how do I go about doing this without messing up the phone?

You mention the Desire S, but this is the Wildfire S subforum. Do you need me to move this to the Desire S section for you?

Can you define "short while" too? Mine is a little sluggish, but maybe only a second or so.

apologies it's actually a Wildfire S , I've only had the phone less than a month
it just started happening yesterday morning after I installed an app called Cerberus

Have you tried uninstalling the app to see if that makes a difference? What sort of delay are we talking about?

If it does turn out to be Cerberus - you may be interested to know that HTC provide some protection out of the box. If you register at htcsense.com you can track your phone via GPS, force the phone to ring loudly, lock your phone and even wipe it - all remotely.
