Apps that DO work on Droid

What's the deal with Loopt? you're saying it works, but my phone's model isn't listed on Loopt's website and I can't sign up?

Any word on Layar?

I sent them an email, saying I couldn't find it on Market. They said they're working on a version for Droid/2.0 and it should be ready in a few days. That was a few days ago. Can't find anything about it on their website.

Advanced Task manager (manager and uninstaller in one; better than adv task killer and taskiller)

Any Cut (enable telephone etc shortcuts to face pages)

Backgrounds (pretty scenery)

Buzzlock (silences ringer immediately to vibrator only)

Car Home (has map, directions, contact on one screen)

Digital clock (I like a nice big type time on the face plate)

Dock runner (cool alarm clock etc but has to shut down each time)

My Battery Status (I like to know if my battery is getting low)

PRO Zoom Camera (gives you some zoom capability)

Pkt Auctions Ebay (able to follow auctions and bids)

Settings (to check on different phone settings)

Spare Parts (phone settings part 2)

Sportstap (great for getting quick scores)

USA Today (get the news in those remote places)

US Traffic (helps plan travelling in busy urban areas)

The Weather Channel (personal choice over weather bug)

WeFi Connect (good option whenever 3 G not available)

YouTube (like to watch my favorite videos)

Advanced Task manager (manager and uninstaller in one; better than adv task killer and taskiller)

Sure it works, but there's a plethora of issues reported here on this. Maybe I'm getting names mixed up? We might need clarification at the beginning of this thread, or a new sticky about the one that robs battery power and performance.

Does anyone know how to fix low volumen when placing calls? I have a Motorola Droid and the speaker used to be laugder and once I plugged in my head phones I started having this problem. I already try to hard reset the phone but is still giving me that problem...

Had same problem after downloading ringer toggle widget.
Uninstalled and backed all settings. Did a hard reboot (settings, privacy, factory reset and then follow instructions. Good luck.

I'm using a lot of the apps listed on here but one of the best ones I've come across is Apps Organizer. It lets you group you apps together based on the type of app. From there you can create a shortcut on the desktop and whenyou select it, it opens a window with all of the apps that are part of that group.

I did the 2.0.1 upgrade last night and droid48 crashes now, anyone else confirm that is the case or is it just me?

Definitely one cool app is MotoTorch. After installing it, long press on home screen background and select widgets. Then select MotoTorch and place widget on home screen. Awesome and free!

Here is a list of Apps that have worked for me as of today:

  • Bubble - A handy level app
  • ASTRO File Manager - Solid app that lets you manage the files on your SD card
  • TasKiller free - Great app for seeing what is currently running and it lets you kill all the running apps with one press on its widget.
  • ESPN News Widget - Great!
  • NBA Game Time Lite - Great app to get up to date NBA scores
  • FartDroid - Why not?
  • WeatherBug - Works great. Puts the temperature on the top left side of your notification bar.
  • Pandora and Slacker Radio - Both work great
Games

  • Doom for Android - Tough to control looks sweet
  • aiMinesweeper - Great minesweeper game
  • Baseball Superstars 2009 - Awesome baseball game
  • NESoid Lite - NES Emulator, I now have 400+ Original Nintendo Games that work well. Though the controls with the DPad and A+B buttons take getting used to.
  • SNESoid Lite - Same thing but SNES emulator. Works pretty well.
thanks for the info. For the NES and SNES; Do you need to download the games separately? If so where do you find the games and is there a listing?

Thanx

Quick Settings

A wonderful app that works flawlessly. Allows for WiFi On/Off, Ringer/Silent Swap, GPS On/Off, Screen Brightness, Bluetooth On/Off, Mobile Data On/Off, etc in a very quick format.... I didnt like the size of the widget one on the OS. Never one issue with it, and its free. Highly recommended.

if you discussed this already link me to it because didnt find anything when i put it in the search bar; i downloaded the pdf g view app and i can not read pdf files sent to me in an email, if there is a better app or if i am dong something wrong I am not sure so I am open to an answer.

IheartRadio

Somewhat recently released for Android phones and should be added to the list as well. Its basically all the ClearChannel stations. Great app.

I have the free versions of the nes, snes, and genesis. If no rom is opened, and you close the program, they all trigger a force close.

Hello i am VERY VERY new to droid world. i want to include widgets and transform my droid to a whole new theme other than what is provided, can you suggest some type of widgets or apps where i can transform my droid from looking atypical.

Anyone know of a free weather app that puts the weather on you home screen?

I have a few apps that make weather watching very easy and effortless. The apps I use are:

Weather bug

Weather and Toggle Widget

Weather and Toggle Widget animation addon
These 3 apps work seemlessly together. The home screen display is awesome.

Also, an app I recommend for free ringtones is Zedge.

Hope these help.

Great lists...can anyone help with a list of great apps that can be stored on the SD card? My non-rooted Droid is maxed out on internal memory. Thanks :)
