Help Apps that drain battery

Task killers
Instant messengers
Anything that updates information constantly (sport scores, stocks, social networking)

Now I realize some of those types of apps are essential to some people. And some apps are better at conserving battery than others. Just be sure to check the settings to either manually update, or update every couple of hours.

You have to watch your phone after you install certain apps.
these really dont use battery. expecially if you dont set them up and sync them. If you shut off the sync in your "accounts and sync" they wont run.

Anything using GPS constantly will use battery. Anything that is keeping the screen on will also use battery obviously. If you look at the battery usage stats the screen is always near the top.

I've never set them up and they still start themselves without my knowledge and permission.

Android 101: just because you see it in running services, doesn't mean its using resources. Stocks and weather are set to sync automatically you have to turn them off

city id can be uninstalled vcast and navigator aren't "running" Android just keeps them at a ready state so they are easy to kill if resources are needed.

Now I don't mind Weather running, but if WTF would I need any of the other nonsense.
If there was an easy way to uninstall all of them without rooting, I'd be all over that.
That's where an iOS device has a clear advantage.

I just got my thunderbolt this weekend and i get approx 2 hours out of the battery almost doing nothing with it. Something seriously has to give here.

I use it everyday without the extended battery. As long as you set your phone up right, don't stream Pandora while navigating and surfing the web at the same time, or keep a ton of junk apps that run when you don't want them to, there should be no need for the extended battery.

did you actually charge the battery upon receiving the phone? otherwise, considering they don't fully charge batteries that are shipped, you probably did well to get 2 hours

how did you determin it was the htc agena widget? asking because i am trying to hunt down battery drain issues and use that widget.
Im guessing, but when those 2 apps are shutdown, my battery is like 40% better on usage. Today i shutdown yahoo im, an replaced htc agenda widget with the android agenda widget. It was like night an day on battery usage go figure.

I will say this, i believe that yahoo app is the biggest battery drainer of the 2. I need to do a day with htc agenda widget running vs android agenda widget to get a true feel on those 2.;)

Angry Birds kills my battery...:( I mean its not my fault its addicting...I mean seriously. Who makes a game like this and expects to have any battery life! Jeeeeze.:p

None of bloatware really uses battery to be honest I think people worry about it too much.

Actually, it has been revealed that Blockbuster is set up to constantly check for updates, and yes, even if you have never updated it and never used it. In order to disable this, you have to allow it to update the software, so that you can actually go into the settings in Blockbuster and then turn off the auto-update option. This saved some juice for me.

However, as I install more and more apps, I am seeing decrease in my daily battery life. Does anybody else experience that sometimes when you pick up your phone, it is kind of HOT/WARM even though it had been just idling? I am suspicious that there are some other apps running in background that try to use data.

I had this thought:

Does anyone know of an app that keeps track of which apps try to use data, and how frequently they do? Constantly running such a watchdog app like that would be a battery drain in itself, but at least it would be able to tell me which apps are secretly killing my battery. so I can run this app for a whole day once in a while and determine which apps I want to delete or adjust settings for.

Just a thought :)
