Help apps that won't close

hey all,

it seems that with Froyo 2.2 i get a lot of new apps. problem is these new apps can't be shut off.

things like Skype, amazon MP3, City ID ... etc. my battery has dropped significantly since 2.2 and i think it's because of these many new apps running in the back ground.

anyone know how to stop these apps from running?

Looks like the new unrevoked 3.2 is aiming at giving root to us who upgraded to 2.2. When that happens, just root, remove the bloatware, and keep running the stock image. I don't believe there will be any other way as CityID was like this in 2.1

So are we stuck with Amazon MP3 running in the background?

I haven't signed in or even opened the app and it is still running.

Seems like a waste if I have no intention on using it.
