Apps to Sd

Just downloaded an app that said 1.8 mb and put it onto apps 2 sd where it now says is 2.2 but my phone is now telling me I am low on phone storage space. How can this be

I THINK he is saying, he moved an app to sd while running 2.2, and still has low storage. If that IS the case, yeah that's normal. When you click move to sd, it only moves a portion of the app to the sd card, some of it is left on internal memory. So you still will loose internal storage.

The size of the app I downloaded was 1.8mb (ok so far) however despite putting this app into apps2sd my internal phone memory is now showing as very low. Also now that it has downloaded it has jumped from 1.8 mb to 2.2mb.

So the installed size is larger than the download size? That's perfectly possible - what you download is the apk, which is technically an installer. The installed form of the app will at the minimum include the apk plus the app element in dalvik cache (which is generated when the app is installed). In some cases it will include an object library as well.

These other files, plus the app's own data, will still be in internal memory even if you move the app to SD, so space will decrease. This is what DNick said above - only part of the app is moved. If you are running 2.3 then moving to SD will also move the lib (if any, not all apps have one).
