Mate root your phone first. Nandroid can be done in boot menu by holding down vol and switch phone on and then choose recovery. From there you can Nandroid. As for the partition do that in rom manager and choose max and 32mbps swap. Thats what I did. Once you do Nandroid backup then install the radio and Rom which is in the guide. But when you get to the rom bit, get leedroid froyo sense Rom instead. Its alot better. I will try and post the linl to the rpm for you. Hope this helps you mate and good luck.

hi mate, you partition your card first, and then backup your apps etc using my backup or my backup pro.

1.) download rom manager
2.) partition card (use max available and swap use 32mb)
3.) download my backup/pro and backup all data to card.
4.) root phone
5.) nanroid backup through boot menu
6.) install radio and chosen rom ( i would highly suggest leedroid)
7.) your smiling and praising me lol.

edit: i cant remeber if you can partition without rooting, im sure you can but dont quote me. try it and let me know.

good luck :)

Excellent mate, thanks so much for all ya help. I'm normally pretty good with this sort of stuff but i love my Desire so much i'm afraid i'll brick it, so just very cautious.
I'm gonna give it a go today, will let you know how i get on.
Thanks again :D

right, my phone is rooted, i know that. When i goto partition using Rom Manager, it says the usual warning but doesn't re boot. also i read in leedroid that you need ext3 partition for a2sd+ all i can see is one option in rom manager.

Hi halcyondays, try to click the top link in Rom manager 'flash clockworkmod recovery 'then try again.

still nothing, nothing seems to work on rom manager, even the backup current ROM, you go through the instructions but then nothing

Is there anything similar i can use?

update: re installed Rom Manager, simple haha

Gld its sorted mate. You just normally click partition oin rom manager and that does it and it works with a2sd+ .

all i keep reading everywhere is how to create a ext3 partition and leaving rest Fat32, so what your saying is Rom Manager does this for you/

can i not create a partition larger than 512MB also?

update, sod it, i'm going for it hahaha :)

Thanks Azz for researching this. Am just reinstalling everything back onto my 16gb sd card - which is taking ages! Just one question...when I run titanium to reinstall my apps, will they automatically be installed onto the partitioned sd card?

Thanks
Tim

yes mate but I never used it and saw few people having problems with it.I use my backup. It's easy reliable and simple mate.

ok, so i've recovered my apps and installs, and only Google Goggles is showing in the SDcard and when i goto manage apps, not one has an option to move them.

Although my internal memory is saying i have 107MB available and i think about 30 apps installed.
Is it right that i cannot see the apps on SD card?

I'm not certain as I only use a2sd+ which you HAVE to format/partition the SD card on, but maybe you have to with Froyo too?

Try it.

Install ROM manager and use that to partition your SD card if that fails, use Lekky's guide below.... If using rom manager, use the same settings as Lekky's Guide

You will need to have downloaded:
pushfiles_windows.zip

  • Remember to have backed up your normal sdcard before proceeding, as the next step will wipe all data from it.

  1. Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
  2. You will see HBOOT on the screen.
  3. Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
  4. You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
  5. Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zipfolder you unzipped as part of the root process.
  6. Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
  7. Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
  8. Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
  9. Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.

I only see a triangle with an exclamation mark, I think this is clockwork and it has none of those options to do the partition, partitions menu only has mount and format, its frustrating because if I try to partition using rom manager it just reboots into recovery but does nothing from there. How in the hell can I tell if it has partitioned or not? This is the only thing stopping me before installing a fresh new rom with apps2sd+

At step 4, you are supposed to get a triangle. Did step 1-3 work ok?

I get to the 'green' menu (after I run the recovery-windows.bat) with the options for Partitions etc but once I get into that menu the optical trackpad gets flighty as hell and when I press the 'PartitionSD' option it performs a backup instead :s .. every single time I try.
