Archos and App Inventor for experiment

Ok, so I'm looking for an android tablet for an experiment for my colleges AIAA (aerospace engineering club). It is a zero gravity experiment and we want to use an android tablet to communicate with a few arduino's via blutooth.

I want to write the app using App inventor, but cant find a straight answer about whether or not you can actually USE app inventor with an archos tablet. Has anyone got this working?

Anyone have a better tablet in mind?

wouldnt you use a pc and app inventor to create the app? as far as I know the app inventor doesnt run on the android device, it just allows you to create apps that will.

once you have the app made and saved as an .apk file you can easily install and run it from the archos.

sounds interesting, goodluck.

I would like to develop android apps with an archos tablet like I do my phone. You can create a custom emulator with android sdk and specify the screen size in that emulator to match the archos screen then package as an apk as the previous post mentioned. Honestly the only solution may be to buy one from a brick n mortar store and just make sure you can return it if app inventor doesn't recognize it.
