well i don't want a phone thats cheap and plastic like the few 1st gen samsung galaxy s phones were.
i like a little heft to them. i guess phones are getting bigger again and that adds weight as well, which i do not mind to much.

I loved my S2.
at the time i was looking into that phone, but it just felt cheap to me. i wanted a much more solid feeling device. i cant remeber what i had when the s2 was out........most likely either the htc evo or the note 3(?)
Plastic is better than most people think.

The plastic in these phones are not your average plastic. This plastic is made to withstand to a degree - flex, shock, and in some cases scratching.
If you drop 2 phones of equal weight from the same height, one being plastic and the other metal... If both land on a corner, the metal phone is more likely to crack the screen.
The reason is because the plastic can absorb some of the shock, while the metal transfers most of the shock to the glass.
With all that said, I have no preference in material as long as I like the phone.

The Note 10 looks skinny.
I get why plastic was used, it just felt cheap to me. Not that plastic is cheap. I just did not like the feel odd them.
As far as the note 10 being skinny, I have only seen rumors of leaked images..... nothing concrete. If it is skinnier that's fine by me.

I will always put a case over it which adds weight any ways..... so weight is not a concern.... unless it's like 10lbs or something😨😜
My LG G7 case is the smallest I've ever had.

comparing my LG V20 to my LG V40 - yes it's a tick thinner, and it's about 2 ticks heavier. with more screen but the overall envelope is the same (I even put the old cover on my new phone by accident)
Heavier because they have been shoehorning more battery in them. which makes some sense - now that it's non-replaceable. They use a prismatic LIPO battery that conforms to as much of the shape they can allow. Old battery - rectangular thin slab - 3000 mAh, new battery not a rectangle 3300mAh.
I suspect this is why they all seem heavier - they are by a few grams.
