Last year in college... School organized the yearly trip abroad. I went to Rome, to see the Colosseum, musea, churches, the Vatican, to turn 18 there and so much more beauty. I was surrounded by 17-18 year olds, who were educated in Greek and Roman languages in a catholic school.
We were visiting a children's church. An adorable small church with beautiful statues and filled with letters and drawings from children from all over the world, requesting God's help or thanking him.
One of my class mates seriously asked: 'Is this where they buried the baby Jesus Christ?'

ROFL this is hilarious. I'm not surprised though. I remember one time in high school having to explain to some students that sun was not a planet. And that it takes the earth 365 days for it to go around the sun. They asked me, "how many years is that?" smh

Ya know, everytime I see Earlymon hand out a smackdown o' knowledge, especially about technology, it makes me suspect he's really Bill Nye in disguise. Or Mr. Wizard. Or got mentored by them. :D

No comment ( don't want to be disgraced by many intellectual words of wisdom rants & interlacing topics to form Op) But enjoyed reading

freshman in college.. my first history class...
over 100 students in class...
first day... pop quiz...

I heard student asking... where was Washington DC..
some were sayin it was in Washington state.
some think Washington State must be up in Northeast area with the original 13 colonies

they also had no idea where the Mississippi river was.. or Great Lakes.. or Texas was.

American college students!!! it was so sad.. I had to laugh

Well, some people, like such as US Americans, don't have maps...

According to my missus, women want everything, they want it now and without any b*tching from me, thank you very much.

Re interlacing on TV, apparently it's all goes back to the need to save film stock when they brought in the talkies in the 1920s.

Yeah, really.

Strange how things can propogate over time. Like, did you know the railway track guage in most European countries is based on the guage of 19th century carriages which was ultimately based on the guage of Roman chariots .. which were probably based on Sumarian chariots, for all I know - they gave us the 7 day week, why not railway guages?
