ok so last night I dropped my connect down about 20 flights of rough concrete steps and I must say the phone took the beating like a champion! the gorilla glass saved the screen and not one scratch was found on the screen. nothing at all happened to the phone, the only thing that's really bugging me is the phones body damage. there are scratches and dings all over the phone and its all rough around the edges.

I was wondering if I was to return the phone for a referbished one should I be worried? I know many of you are thinking if nothing is wrong with the phone why would you but its really annoying. are referbished phones "just like new" or are they going to give me problems in the next couple days? or is there a chance I can get a new connect?

I just replaced mine a few weeks ago and the corporate store still had new ones in stock. It had zv8 and I updated it to zva. I would ask you never know.

I'm fairly certain the refurbished ones have a different 4g antenna since that's what really seems to be what's making the first batch of connects overheat.

They may also have a different run of cpus since apparently some can't take the broken out rom

I don't mean to sound like a dick but there's no physical way in HELL that your phone fell - while bouncing - down 20 flights of stairs (mainly because 20 flights of stairs would be side by side, and your phone wouldn't turn to go down the next flight.) without getting any damage to it's screen.
The odds of your phone bouncing that many times, with concrete steps that have dips, cracks, etc. in them making it flip a different way each time it bounced are literally 1 in 1 billion. ESPECIALLY down 20 flights of stairs.

While I do agree that the gorilla glass is strong, and DOES help (See: Gorilla glass saved my ass!" Thread that i made) It's not some indestructible force field and can easily allow damage to happen to the screen BELOW it without ever having damage itself.
Gorilla glass primarily prevents against scratching, but extreme weight (sitting on the phone wrong) falling down steps, etc CAN and will damage the screen below the gorilla glass regardless of what damage the gorilla glass has.
Mine took about 15 steps worth of damage and hit a small concrete boulder with jagged corners. The screen hit one of those corners DEAD ON and the gorilla glass did allow the impact to save my screen, but the top gorilla glass protector and capacitive touch screen is pretty scratched, and dented to high heaven.

My two week old NEW Connect had an accelerometer problem. Took it back to the authorized dealer and they did a free exchange by mail. One week later, I went back and the switched everything over to the refurb phone that came in, and the clerk found it to be defective. Went to a corporate store 2 hours later, and received an over the counter free exchange(under 30 days its free), and the phone is another refurb. Seems to be working fine, and looks brand new with only 4 hours talk time on it, and updated software. Everything seems fine with this phone! The first refurb was a dud, the second seems perfect..for now. ha
