Help are task killers worth it?

i know they're pretty convenient, but since ive been using advanced task manager (and pretty much any other task managing app) my phone has been slower and it seems the app its self uses alot of memory..

my point is- with android 2.2 you can manage running apps and services via settings...does that make task killers useless? and do they cause more harm than good?

In some ways they are good,if you have an App thats not running right or out of control it's a convenient way to terminate, but you can also do this in the setting,Applications,Manage Applications,Force Stop.

Using the main one already on the phone takes on average 8-10 minutes to actually stop the program, so the instant task killers can save you 8-10 minutes of battery... Learned a few tips this past week. Use Advanced Task Killer with a BLUE X, not a Red X. Red X = Bad... lol

ok...blue x...ill get right on that lol cuz i have the red x one. i usually use a combo of both cuz the task killer would let my facebook reload so i force stopped that through my settings

Task killers are not only not needed in Android, they usually result in problems. Android 2.2 actually makes it so many tasks can't be killed. If your task manager says it is killing all tasks you tell it to then it is lying. A properly working task manager in 2.2 actually has to move you over to the application's page from the built in manager for you to force stop it there.

Anyway, read up on this subject because it has been discussed so much there is plenty of info out there.
