Root Are the problems with Liberty Theme related?

I have been reading for the last week or so about reboot problems, icon problems, and other strange things with Liberty 1.0 and that almost made me not install it. I did install it yesterday and have been tinkering around with it since then and I have so far (knock on wood) not run into a single problem with it. I am running the stock Liberty ROM theme.

It seems through out my readings, every where I see a compliant about Liberty, that person is running an added on or third party theme. Does it seem reasonable that the stock Liberty ROM there is very stable, but when people are adding on third party themes, these themes are the cause of the problems and Liberty is getting the blame?

Liberty is not my favorite ROM, but it does seem to be fast and very stable. The main thing I don't like about it is the color choice, I am just not a fan of yellow, but other than that, it seems to be great!

I have been running it for a while and put the Dark Android Design Blue Droid theme on it and have had very good luck with it. I have been pleased with Liberty 1.0 and this theme, I hesitated because of the problems I was reading about but then one night said screw it, that's what nandroids are for and flashed. I've been pleased with this, Apex and DarkSlide. All 3 are great Roms and have stuck with Liberty due to Gregtards theme, I really like that blue droid theme.

I just installed the Dark Android theme as well and I like it except for the font. The default font is difficult for me to read. I downloaded the goodies pack and I know it says

"The fonts are in flashable zips so once extracted, they can be flashed."

Does that mean to install these I would need to reboot into recovery and then select each .zip font file and install it? Or do I have to unzip each font file and then install it how?

Honestly, I have no clue, never installed fonts before.

I'm running Dark Android as well, and I changed my font to something that is more in line with the stock Android font.

I used another method to change my font, but in your case, each time you flash the zip file from recovery, it will install that font and make the necessary changes to your filesystem to display that font. So you only flash the font you want to currently use, don't flash multiple font files, because the last one you use will be the one that's displayed.

The themes are somewhat to blame, especially when people try going from theme to theme sometimes. Here is why. Some themes are pretty minimal, and change a few framework files and images. They have pretty small file sizes. Other themes are pretty extensive in the amount of images, icons and such that are themed/changed. So if one were to go from a theme with extensive file modifications to the System files, then flash a minimal theme over that, then quite a few bits of the original theme will not get overwritten by the next theme.

To prevent this from happening, I always reinstall Liberty.zip without wiping data/cache before installing a new theme. So far, everything has been good.

I'd also like to add, that I was one of the unlucky ones who had problems after installing Liberty without wiping Data and Cache, coming from GummyJar 2.5. After I reinstalled Liberty after doing a wipe, everything was great. So, I would recommend everyone do a clean install of Liberty if any problems are encountered.

Im running Liberty with, BlackWhiteChrome theme, best theme imho. I have had minimal issue or two since installing it.

I've ran into problems with Themes on Liberty too. When I first got it, I opened the toolbox and tried every theme in a 10 minute span lol. Much more careful now. Clean install to Lib 1.0 ran excellent for a week or so, then added Mysterious Beast theme. So far it's been ultra smooth. I did have to go back and edit my gallery and camera apps after applying theme, but aside from that I have had no issues. Stable, good battery...

I will agree, from all that I have read, it is basically best to wipe everything and do a clean install, even if the ROM says you don't have to. I have, and had zero problems at all so far.

Is there anywhere to view what these fonts look like for Dark Android? Before I have to go through and install each one to see if I like it or not.

I have been there, where I downloaded Dark Android and the Goodies pack, but unless I am missing something, I do not see any pictures of the fonts.

That site posted on xda is money. They have the shots of what the font looks like and the rating, I have most of them downloaded on my phone when I get into a, let's check this one out mode :)

You can flash the font packs at xda by going into clockwork and install zip from sd card option. I used to make nandroids before just to be safe and I would recommend that but now the ones I know I like and rotate thru, just flash and go.

I'm just talking about the pics of the screens in the post. I've never downloaded any goodies pack. The fonts are changed using a method other than the Liberty Toolbox, so I suggested using the ones over at xda, screenshots of the fonts are in the links next to the fonts in the list.

I use the app called Font Changer to change fonts.

Install the Font Changer app. It will create a folder on your sd card named Fontchanger. Find some True Type fonts that you like (like at xda), then copy the True Type font files into the Fontchanger folder on your sd card. If you use the xda fonts, you will need to extract the files and rename them to the actual font names before copying them into the folder, because all the fonts are named DroidSans, DroidSans-Bold, and Clockopia no matter what font you are installing.

Open the Fontchanger app on your phone, it will read the fonts on your sd card and, here's the good part, it will give you a preview of what the fonts will look like on your phone before you select and apply the font. Then you reboot your phone to apply the font.

The stock font is DroidSans I believe.

Thanks! So, most all of those Fonts on XDA are the TTF ones and that Font Changer program will work with them?

Also, I installed Font Changer, but can't find where it is located to run it. I pull down from the status bar from where I downloaded it and opened it from there, but didn't see where it is.

Easiest way to grab the stock fonts is to use Root Explorer and copy all the files, except default, in your System /Fonts folder to the FontChanger folder on your sd card.

You should be able to find FontChanger in your app drawer.

I downloaded a bunch of fonts from XDA and unzipped them and then renamed them as follows

Optimer
Optimer-Bold
Optimer-Plain

Didn't really know what to name the third one, so just made something up. So far, these are working good with Font Changing. Thanks for all the tips on this. Changing the fonts in Dark Android makes it much, much better. Now, if I can just change the status bar colors or at least the battery meter colors. I really don't like the light green.
