Are there any Bible apps?

In addition, as is clear, I am a huge fan of YouVersion. The recent updates adding downloadable versions and audio bibles are fantastic. The devotionals are also awesome.

I can also vouch for Olive Tree.
 
I use YouVersion on both my Ally, and my iPod, so my notes, bookmarks and whatever are synced together.

Love the "offline" versions on my iPod, though they are virtually useless on my phone, since I always have signal at home/church.

To the above post, where do you get the audio bibles? I don't see anywhere to get those... I believe I have the most recent version as well...

Look at the list of versions/translations. The ones with audio will have a grey speaker symbol to the left... NLT, NASB and NIV should have audio versions.
 
Thanks guys. I have tried the YouVersion and it is quite good. Have yet to try the audio versions within it though.

I tried downloading OliveTree but had issues trying to download. Instead I managed to download Cadrebible for the BBE version which is unfortunately unavailable in the YouVersion.

Will download and give MySword a try at some stage too.
 
Just a word of thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. As a result of reading it I have found some amazing Bible Apps. God bless all!
 
I use YouVision Bible app. it has a lot of different translation to which some can be downloaded for free for offline reading and studing.
 
Olivetree has released ver 4.5 Bible reader for android. It has split screen, syncs with their server (for syncing of books and notes with other platforms) and it also syncs with Evernote. I have switched to this Olivetree as it is (IMHO) The best reader for android platform. Vast volume of books and resources available all of which sync with multiple platforms.

Ive tried Youversion; it is great for online study and has the most reading plans.
Ive tried the "alpha" version from Laridian Pocket Bible; but it seems to be be taking a very long time to develop. No indication from the vender when it will be in beta form let alone production.

The new ver 4.5 Bible reader from Olivetree is the best I've found. And it is rumored they are working on ver 5.0 which will be adding some nice additional features.
 
The new Olive Tree is finally on par with ports on other platforms. Great company.

Still prefer YouVersion. The offline functionality has gotten better.

According to their blog, the additional features that separate 4.5 from 5.0 will be rolled out incrementally. I'm really hoping for pop-up windows and individual word highlighting, personally. Otherwise OTBR4.5 is a great program. I'm just jealous of my friend's version on his iPad.

I've just uploaded bible app on Android Market.
The app name is OpenBibles. You can search it on Android Market.

If you have time, please give it a try.
It's a simple bible app (only 248kb) and you can read many bible translations offline.
You can also show your verse bookmark as widget on your Android home screen.

Hopefully, it can be useful for you..
Suggestions and critics are welcome.

Yes; Olive Tree Ver5 for ipad is awesome. Im hoping to see all those features in android soon as well. For now; I was pleased with how well Olive TreeBR 4.5 runs on my samsung 10.1 tablet also. It is very cool that my notes from my phone sync over to my tablet. (and can use the same purchased books and commentaries. Love having the Bible open in one side and a commentary in the other.

The problem is, sometimes the app can seriously distract you from your goal, such as the ridiculous spelling suggestions offered by You Version (YouVersion). I would like the option for people to vote for or against the spelling suggestions. I have never seen a Bible application on any computer or mobile that I thought was acceptable, only marginally, and temporarily sufficient until I write my own that will try to emulate, AND extensively improve on the awesome search functionality of the old Franklin electronic pocket Bibles. But of course, I'll try yours if I see I haven't tried it already. Thanks for the tip.

I can't even do a single word search in CrossConnect. It seems to not have a search function.

Also, I've never seen an alternative English translation that made me feel that it was written for an intelligent person. My Bible app should have the ability to customize any translation with replacement synonyms for common words, making the better translations more modern automatically, along with the ability to show or hide the original words.


"And Bible" has a nice interface and properly searches for the words you type. ...I'll keep using it and take notes on all features I like, dislike, or could improve upon in as many bible apps as I can. Thanks.
