Root Are there any stable pure Gingerbread roms?

Hey guys, so I've had a lot of experience with rooting but gave it a break for a while in hopes of a stable pure gingerbread rom coming out(on unrooted GB right now.) I haven't seen anything yet. Are there any that have virtually no bugs/or just need one or two quick fixes? I don't want to have to apply nightlies every day and just want an everyday ROM. I'd also be happy with CM7 but I don't think it's stable yet. Thanks!

The funny thing is, the source (gb leak and stock gb) aren't that great. your best bet right now is apex 2.0 RC2.

Pure GB is broken imo. Why not try a 2nd init? I really like OMFGB because it's speed, stability and usability. Everything from bluetooth to VPN works. It also comes with the Theme Chooser which is awesome. I currently have the TouchWizzed theme (Galaxy X-ish) applied and it looks awesome, best of all, it's on the fly :). Another nice thing is the UI and battery tweaks. Battery percentages are read in 1% increments and you can choose between 3 lockscreens, Rotary, Slide, and honeycomb inspired. In the past I've used Liberty, Rubix, Kennedy X, Fission, Apex and now, OMFGB. There are no issues with my bluetooh device (CommandOne). I can adjust volume and doesn't crash when adjusting the volume. What is also nice is all the sounds are actually sent to the bluetooth device including email notifications, txt notifcations and all that. Before, when streaming music and receiving an email, the sound from the bluetooth would cut off for a few seconds and then resumes. It seriously does not feel like a beta at all. Google Maps is very snappy and have yet to use GPS Fix because the phone GPS is actually picked up right away. In previous ROMs, it would seriously take 3 minutes to detect GPS signal. Just remember though that like any 2-init ROM, HDMI doesn't work nor does 720p recording but the camera works just fine in standard resolution. The battery I had before was failing on me so I actually have a friend's that he didn't use so I'll be calibrating it soon. I'm currently running the first 1.3.1 nightly that was released and haven't updated since. My next flash on my phone will be the finalized version of OMFGB. Hope my experiences help you out to choose your next ROM :).

Wow thanks for the replies. To install a 2nd init, I just go through the regular rooting process right? Which version of OMFGB do you suggest I install? And what fixes do I need?

The version I'm running is 1.3.1. If you are currently on GB, you have to SBF back to Froyo .340, use Z4root to get root access and install Droid X Bootstrap. Reboot into Clockwork Recovery, wipe data and cache, search for the zip and install. On OMFGB's site, you can get more info along with GAPPS (Google Apps) as it doesn't come installed. One issue that has come up is with mms but there's a fix here on VoidedSaint's Thread.

I thought it was Droid 2 Bootstrapper for GB? Just what I remember from previous experience, could be wrong?

I think you have to have USB debugging unchecked to use the DX boostrap, or something like that. Many use the D2 boostrap instead.

ApeX and AOSP Liberty are both good GB ROMs. Shuji has been the best for my phone. All 3 gave my phone phenomenal battery life.

OMGB and Liquid GB have both been popular 2nd init ROMs for the GB experience. However, different phones experience different levels of battery efficiency. Some get good battery on both, one compared to the other, or neither entirely.

Yeah, that's if you're installing a ROM like LibertyGB but when you SBF to .340, you'll no longer be running the GB Kernel. Rest assured though that this is a GB ROM but from what I've been reading it's using the Froyo kernel to boot. Once you install the OMFGB ROM, it'll have a built in clockwork by hitting the power button>Reboot>Bootstrap.

Do all you supporters of OMFGB have any experience with blur-based roms such as Darkslide X or shujii ? I'm on Darkslide X and it's fast, stable, and has great battery life. I was told that the 2init roms, while stable, are not as stable as the blur based roms. I just wanted some clarification on this since the features you guys are talking about sound pretty sweet. Tempting me to flash a new ROM already.

OMFGB has been very stable for me. I haven't gotten a hot reboot nor have I experienced any slowdown. All the apps I've tried so far have worked ok. I have used Blur Based roms in the past and it was a mixed bag. I just couldn't find a ROM that was as stable as just having stock Froyo although Apex 1.3.1 was very close. See if you could read more on the ROM before you take the plunge. It has just enough tweaks and none of the blur bloat which is what I like.
