Are there any Task (or other) apps that work with S-pen?

Since the Note 3 is so new, this might be a better question posed on the Note 2 forum, but since there are former Note 2 users here I thought I'd ask.

While I generally like the stock calendar app, I'm wondering if there is a standalone Task app that is designed to work (or at least works well) with the S-pen? What I'd love to have is a Task app that readily takes input from the S-pen interface and then provides a nice, clean and attractive Task widget for display on screen.

Anyone run into this? Or, is there something built-in to the GN3 that I just have not found yet?

Using Action Memo, you can create a task. To do so:
1. Open Action Memo with your preferred method (I use Air Command, so it's on the left of the semi-circle that pops up).
2. Write a few details about the task you wish to create.
3. At the top is a button that looks like a dotted line circle with an arrow coming out of it. Press that, and it will highlight what you wrote as well as bring up a horizontal menu underneath the selection. The button to the far right is "Task".
4. Press the "Task" button, and a lady of tasks wok open where you can edit the task you just created, add details, mark tasks as done, delete them, etc.

Cheers. :)

EDIT: (just re-read your post and remembered another option) If you like, you don't have to go as far as creating a task from Action Memo. What I've done before is written a note in Action Memo, and then used the built-in Action Memo widget to put the note to one of my home screens like a sticky note.

Thanks for the tip, but I already knew (and do use) all of that. The problem is that there is no widget or anyway of displaying a list of these tasks without going into the program itself - at least none that I can find. So I'm looking for an app that would take input from the S-pen, and then display a running list of these apps in a widget kept running on a screen. I had this type of thing in my Jorte calendar app. there were a plethora of widget sizes to choose from and you could set one to display your task or to-do list that was there to see. You could also add and subtract from the widget. Very convenient, but of course it does not take input from the S-pen - yet.

Anyhow, I was just wondering since the Note 2 had been out for so long if there was a standalone app, or at least another calendar app with a good selection of widgets, that will take input from the S-pen.

Anyone?

I just re-read this: What is the 'built-in Action Memo widget you refer to? This might be what I'm looking for. I don't see it in widgets.

If you open the Apps drawer and click on the Widgets tab, there should be a 4x3 widget simply called "Action Memo" right on the first page . It'll look like a pale yellow sticky note.

I do not have a Action Memo widget of any kind. I do have the app. I wonder, if I uninstall/reinstall it, if it will show up? I'll give that a try.

I'm on Verizon, btw.

Okay, figured it out. Action Memo widget is only available with TouchWiz launcher. I'm on Nova Prime. Oh well, the search continues!

speaking of the S pen, seems weird that Action Memo and S Note are two separate entities. which do you guys use more? i like S Note better, but my stylus goes to Action Memo when i remove it....not sure why they are separated...

I evaluated a plethora of note-taking apps yesterday to try to find one what worked the way I wanted. I had probably 8 different apps and stacked them up against the stock Action Memo and S-Notes apps.

I tried the following:

Evernote
Papyrus
Note Everything
Handrite Note
Notepad
Google Keep
Freenote
Sticky Notes!

After careful evaluation I narrowed it down to Evernote, Papyrus and Sticky Notes! None of them do everything I wanted. I got rid of everything that was either not intuitive or looked like crap.

Evernote I will use for keeping things long term and secure. Our devices come with a free premium upgrade for a year so I figured that's a good time to see how much I like it. It's pretty much the standard right now for this type of thing anyway. With the premium version you can add a PIN lock to your documents.

Papyrus is a strange little program that is basically just a free-hand writing, drawing, whatever. It does not convert your written text to usable data so it basically just functions as a digital note pad that keeps the things you write down. I find myself using this more than I thought I would for simple things when I need to write something down for quick reference later.

Sticky Notes! is a great little app that basically gives you a little wall full of sticky note reminders. You can colorize them and prioritize them as you see fit. It uses the stock GN3 input interface (if you have it turned on - that little pencil shows up when you put it near the screen) and it's pretty slick. You can add reminders and other things. It's basic but it does what it's supposed to and I like that the app icon looks like a sticky note, so if I have it on my front screen, I know I've got one.

Other than that I'll use Action Memo to input things like tasks and events straight into my calendar for reminders. I promised myself with this phone I would try to make the best use of the stock programs before going to outside apps. So far I'm sticking with the stock calendar and the Action Memo program works well with this. I have tried the stock S-Note app several times and don't find it useful for much of anything.

I don't see myself using Evernote that much. I had it on my last phone and never used it at all. But I'm already using Papyrus and Sticky Notes! a fair amount. There are a ton more so it's mostly just finding what works for you, what you like the look of, etc.

Gets a photo of my home screen with the little Sticky Notes! app icon.

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone hasn't tried it (since it works GREAT with the s-pen): Google Gesture Search.

It's a handy app that indexes and searches your entire device (apps / music / mail / contacts / etc... you can set it up how you like it), by allowing you to draw with your finger or stylus the letters. I've used this for a long while on my GNex, and it works very well with the stylus on the N3.

EDIT: (Very similar to s-finder, but I sort of like gesture search a little better).

It may be a little late to respond to this but I figured out a way to do what you are wanting that works for me.
I use the default calender widget "mini today" and the tasks you add using the action memo show up add long add you select the check box "no due date"

I use an app called simply Tasks by Team tasks. It has a widget but I don't use it because it also has popup reminders when the tasks are due and I love that since it doesn't add any clutter to my desktop. It is easy to use with the S-pen and very intuitive. Since I use ADW-EX as my launcher I have a lot of small folders at the bottom of my desktop and just have the app tucked tidily inside one of those folders. A quick tap and it is open and ready to be used. Maybe another option for you to consider?
