Root ARHD vs RCMix3D

Is anyone using ARHD without the recommended radio? Would like to see how much of an impact it makes without.

Also does anyone know how the battery life compares to CM7? I saw someone post that it was twice as good, which would be awesome. I am quite willing to give ARHD a try today

I'm using it without the recommended radio. I'm using this:

Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! : RADIO

I get the best HSDPA connection using this. It doesn't impact battery life at least not adversely.

Battery life is good for me on ARHD but battery life is subjective so will depend entirely on your own usage pattern. All I will say is 2 days is not an issue when under mild usage and between 22hours and 1 day 1 hour under intense but non gaming usage or WiFi Hotspot.

[EDIT]I am also running it on 1.22Ghz and will be gradually increasing this to see where battery life goes. lol[/EDIT]

Yes its a 3.5 feature so your better opting for RCMix3D Runny if thats essentially the deal breaker here. :)

is there not a workaround for it ?? like a flashable zip or something ?

also which would you say is better for me ? is rcmix gonna be freezing and slow ? or is it only a slight difference between it and ARHD ? also you said , or someone said about some flaws in rcmix - are these big or ...?

Is the difference between them in regards to smoothness big? Will I get freezing and the white screen of sense a lot on either of them?

No flashable zip for it unfortunately. Gonna be a case of waiting for version 7.0.0 of ARHD for that mate. As far as RCMix3D is concerned, I didn't suffer any hangups to htc splash screen. All I will say for definite is that it isn't as fast and smooth as ARHD due to the fact that ARHD is built round a Desire HD base unlike RCMix3D Runnymede which is a port. I also never said there were any glaring flaws, none at least that stood out for me. However the fact that its a port and the changelog shows bug fixes shows some are there even if you have to dig for them. Don't be put off trying it though.

On ARHD you won't get any white sense screen at all until you start tinkering with clock speed and voltages. Didn't get round to doing that under RCMix3D and never suffered a launcher relaunch under it either.

If you like RCMix3D and do happen to suffer the sense reboot but want to get past it...use this:

[Script][Guide] V6 Supercharger by Zeppelinrox or how to kill lag in any ROM! U9RC4! - xda-developers

Don't ask me to run through it though as I've never had reason to use it under ARHD and never used it but I've heard great things of it.

Voila ask and thy shall receive:

I might start using that. Thanks again for the links. Gonna see if I can s off my phone soon. I know you said it doesn't matter, but I'm scared of ruining my phone if my pc freezes again - am i better off using my vista laptop or my xp pc? And then you do know how long it should take to complete?

From memory, it takes seconds. I did it using Win 7 with no issues.

It's no danger really, but I'd go with whatever its stabler.

And I used XP so as I said will work with either but you have the odd borked Windows install that has an issue with just one file.

At the end of the day so long as you have the following requirements I'd have a bash at it:
Code:
[b]System requirements:[/b]
Windows XP SP2 or higher
.NET Framework 3.5
HTC Sync (or ADB drivers)

Obviously there's a lot of subjectivity when we discuss ROMs but having tried both I prefer Mikrunny as a sense based ROM.. It seems smoother quicker and gentler on the battery.

It's mega easy, once done you'll wonder what the delay was. If you're not sure though, it's right to be a little cautious.

It's just that my PC is mega old, I mean it has less ram than my phone! I ran the tool before ( although I didn't click the i already have s off!) and that window just froze.
My laptop is a bit more modern, although it's not mine ( but my sister's) its running vista. And I would think that it's a lot more stable, so I'll try downloading the drivers etc tomorrow when she's at work :-P

Hi all

Its been a while since I've changed roms on my phone.

So could someone direct me to a link for the rcmix3d rom? And could they also point me to all the other relevant files I'll need, such as the kernel that is best suited for it.

O and a guide would be good too. I'm a little rusty lol.

TIA

Wiggo - I'm not sure if it's still being supported, which is why I left it off the ATR Guide... at least I'm sure that's what I was told!

As for a refresher on how to flash...

  1. Put new Zip on the root of your SD card
  2. Boot in to Clockwork and backup your current ROM
  3. Performs wipes
  4. Select install ZIP from SD card
  5. Choose right one and let it do it's thing
  6. Reboot
  7. Sit back and enjoy!

(Please note that this has been written very quickly before I head off to work, so I am ready for someone else to add to it :))
