Army Combat Medic Needs Help PLZ

UMKANE

Lurker
I will have the droid a855 this thursday 12/30... I am very busy and getting ready to deploy in a week. Can someone please help me to root my droid and upgrade to froyo 2.2... I would do this but am getting ready to head to afghanistan. If someone could call me and do a walkthrough to make sure I do this right without issues before I head over to Afghanistan. my email is um_kane@hotmail.com... I will provide my cell... please help a soldier out. I need this done properly so I can put some custom EMT/Medic apps on there before I go.

First off, thank you for your service, umkane!

That's an interesting request; I hope a user knowledgeable in rooting the Droid will be able to contact you and provide a walk-through.

In the mean time, there is a rooting guide here (http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...de-updated-december-11th-2010-2-00pm-cst.html) which includes a "one step" solution to rooting that device:

It seems to have gotten great results.

Good luck, no matter the method you end up using.

As already said, thank you for serving. My brother in law is a combat medic in the army, and the stuff you guys see is terrible.

On to your droid- I would imagine that it will already have 2.2 on it, or it will automatically update as soon as its activated, so there should be no problem there. Rooting is super easy now with the one step rooting apps, even I was able to do it, and I'm the person who has everything go wrong that is possible, usually at the same time... in college, my computers instructor literally threw her hands up in the air one day, and said that she had no idea how I managed to get so many things to go wrong at the same time :)
If I was able to do it successfully, you should have no problems!

Just wanted to jump in and say thank you also....
Thank you for serving our country...

The other 2 guys pretty much pointed you in the right direction ...
