Help Artie is acting up :(

Hiding behind a mystery
I'm not sure what's wrong with my Atrix in the past 24 hours. But it's really weird how it has so many issues in a short span of time.

Noon yesterday, I was getting almost NO data on my phone at my house, which usually gets great data connection. Ran speed tests and I was getting like 0.001Mbs and 999 pings for latency. So I turned on my wifi. This was my first time using wifi after unlocking my phone and using it with my data plan. I was on wifi until 7pm and I wanted to see if my 3G was back. Turned off wifi and waited for my network to connect 3G...1min...2min....5min nothing. I put the phone on airplane mode for a few minutes. After I turn airplane mode off, I was still not getting any data :( So I went back to wifi. Around 11pm, I powered my phone off as I charged it.

This morning when I turn it on, I was able to get data *yay*. But I've noticed a slew of issues. My finger print scanner is not reading and seems to have been disabled. Somehow my phone disabled ALL unlock security including the main lock screen. I have not changed the settings at all. I have widget locker so I need to 'swipe unlock' it and it just takes me to my home screen and not the main lock screen. Next issue is that my search and home button don't work :( I can't go home *cries*. The setting and back buttons DO work, which I find very strange.

I've slowly uninstalled all of the apps I've downloaded/updated in the past 24 hours to see if the issues still persist, which they are :( Power off and turning it on enabled my main lock screen but the finger print scanner is still not working. I don't know why it was turned off but I've enabled the finger print scanner. All of the buttons work now too. I should have powered down before uninstalling the apps >_<;;

I find this REALLY weird and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this? I haven't read any of these issues in here :/

Thanks,
-Roze-

P.S. I was writing this article as I trouble shoot it, lol.

*argh* wtf! Just took the phone off the charger and it is showing the exact symptoms I posted earlier :( Stupid Artie :@

You haven't been using it untethered have you? I am curious as to whether you've been hit by their new policing procedures or if it's really a phone issue.

Tethering in Canada is free if you have over a GB of data, so I don't think that's the issue.

Power off/power on did set everything to normal. This is getting quite annoying, lol.

Update: So I think I found the culprit. When I plug in my earplug, Plug in laucher (app), would automatically play my music...and I think it's changing the settings as well and making the soft buttons unresonsive. Going to see if killing the app helps. I've noticed that it disabled the lockscreen when I first got the app >_<. And such a damn useful app to!

Update2: So killing the app returns everything to normal. Will send an email to the developer to get this fix :(

Did you apply the OTA update? I would suggest doing what I did to fix my phone, SELL IT haha

I won't do that. It's a third party app that's doing these random stuff and not the Atrix itself.

Try killing all the apps that are running then use startup editor ($0.99) to make sure they dont open themselves then it will be easier for you to pinpoint exactly which app is doing it. What do you have against the OTA update?

I have the Bell Atrix...so no OTA. I mean 'no' to selling the phone. And as posted above, I already found what app was causing the trouble :)

I had a similar issue with data connection when I would use widgetsoid Switchers data option it would really eff up my data enableing. Since removing that option I haven't bad any issues. Glad you found that dastardly app causing you grief!
