I have an Ascend 526 thats about two months old, hasn't had much use and hasn't been dropped. For what its worth its been turned off for most of its life and only switched on for an hour or two at a time. I'm not a Facebook / Twitter tragic, in fact the only time I use a so-called smart phone is to check email when I'm away from home, to find my way someplace I've never been & to send the (very) odd SMS. Until this morning it worked fine. On starting initially it went to the normal screen with all the icons, but when I attempted to open email I noticed it was locked up.
First thing I did was to remove battery (no other way to reboot) and then it only went as far as the Huawei Ascend logo. Tried that a few more times and exactly the same result.
Second thing was to consult the book of words (actually it was online) which suggested a factory reset by booting while holding the start & up volume keys until the Huawil Ascend logo appeared, then release the start button but keep holding the up volume button.
That got me as far as a screen I'd never seen before but that let me select 'delete data & return to factory default'. Problem is that the thing won't do ANYTHING now, not even the charging bit while plugged in but not turned on & even the itty-bitty light that used to show doesn't turn on. Its under warranty but thats no use right now as I can't contact Huawei support til Monday morning (its Sunday afternoon in Australia)
