Ascend Notification Bar

Hi, I have a rooted Ascend and I am trying to figure out...

Is it possible to change the notification bar to a different color without having to install any custom OS? I want mine to be black since Id rather have a darker screen and it just sticks out too much for my taste. Any input will be welcomed, thanks.

You can try using a metamorph but I dont think there is a metamorph for a straight black notification bar. Why don't you want to install a custom rom?

CM6 you can change it to any color.. CM7 is black.. I honestly don't like the black notification bar. Blends in too much. I actually want it to stand out :/
