ascend vs zio on cricket

which phone is better overall?....i love my ascend...but i wish the sound quality was better....how is it on the zio?...does it have a standard headphone jack?...i also heard it had battery issues?...is this true?

knowing what u know now...would u still get the ascend over the zio?
 
I would say go into your local Cricket store and ask them to let you side-by-side compare them. If you tell them you're thinking of switching, I'd be surprised if they turn you down, unless they have to unbox one. Flashing cash could get them to do almost anything you want.

Hello preme, I have both the phones and now that the Zio has the 2.2 update instead of the 1.6 that was on it, I would have to say that there close to the same to me....The Ascend has a shorter but wider screen then the Zio, which makes it a little easier on the fingers....the Zio is thinner and lighter and fits good in the hand....far as the sound quality on the Zio, It seems to be just as good as the Ascend, and the Zio has the bigger headphone jack. I don't have any problem with the battery on the Zio. So all in all, I love both phones, thats why I had to keep both..........I just wish you couldn't here the crickets over at the Zio forum lol, there not like here, at the Ascend forum. I think you would be happy with either, just bored as crap over at the Zio forum. Hope this helps you some.
 
I think they Zio now does come with the 2.2 since they took the Zio phones out for quite a while and now they are back. Maybe it was to upgrade them, or to send the 2.1 Zios back to Huawei and they waited to get the latest shipments that come with the 2.2. Right now, I would go with the Zio since it is on sale now at $109.99, the lowest it has been at more than 60% off, even cheaper than the Ascend, plus it has a higher resolution screen and Graphics Processing Unit, which the Ascend lacks, all at a lower price. With the 2.2 update, it is much faster. The Ascend may never get 2.2. P.S. The stock speed of the Zio is 600 MHz while the Ascend\\\'s is 528MHz, though it needs to be rooted and overclocked. The only bad thing being said about the Zio is the keyboard, but the Ascend also has that problem, but there are great keyboard replacement apps out there. I believe they have the same resolution camera but generally the Zio is said to have a better picture quality. Again, let me make it clear that I THINK, not KNOW that the Zios now come with 2.2 preinstalled. Upgrading to 2.2 manually isn\'t that hard either. The bad things about each phone equal each other out in terms of the bad things like bugs, but the Zio has more good things than the Ascend, even though the Ascend has better support from the modding community. I assure you this is not biased since I myself have an Ascend. If you really need a phone now, go with the Zio. If you can wait, Cricket is expected to be bringing in the Ideos X5 which has specs similar to a G2, minus the keyboard.
 
Personally, I'd wait for just a little while longer unless you absolutely NEED a phone. I've been hearing a lot of rumors about Cricket and Metro planning to get another phone. I know that they've got a whole new line up of Android phones they are about to release that are not budget breaking. My friend who own a Metro store has told me that he's very confident that at least 1 other Huawei phone will be sold before May. It's really up to you but, I like the Ascend. That's just me though, I don't have Cricket so therefore I didn't have the Zio choice to begin with. ^^.

I have to admit that the Ascend does have better looks than the Zio. The Zio looks plasticky while the Ascend has a premium look to it. P.S. I have added more stuff to my previous post.

I am hoping Metro gets that Ideos X5. That phone looked really nice, Plus the pricing is supposed to be just as good as the Ascend (We will see if I can part with my Ascend. LOL) I'd also heard the Zio had a cheap look but, I'd never actually seen one so I couldn't really comment. My Ascend is running Icarus 1.1 and it is rooted by default. I have an overclocking widget which is running 600Mhz on this phone.

I bought my Ascend brand new for $80 dollars, So I suppose when it comes to pricing, I've got my own resources. XD

P.S Does the Zio have the trackball and hang up/call button? You see, I have an LG Optimus..I ended up getting the Ascend for the simple fact that I do not intend to live without a those simpleton features. X.x
 
Yes, theres lots of price deals for the Ascend and the Zio, and yes, the Zio I have seen in person looks like a toy. Im also running Icarus 1.1 and loving it. Yes, the Zio has a trackball, and the hang up/call button. P.S. The Zio also has slightly better reviews in Cnet.

Yes, It's actually incredibly fast. It's very quick and efficient in multi-tasking. It has like zero lag. Only issue is that it feels like it would not survive a drop. It feels very cheap.
 
If you think the zio LOOKS cheap, just wait till you hold it in your hands. The thing is so light it literally feels hollow.
