Asian or Random Chaaracters on Tablet

Malinthas

My son has a Yuandao N90 tablet running ICS. The default language is Chinese, with Japanese, Korean, and English also available. The input language and keyboard are set to English (US). However, in various places non-English characters appear. The most common place for Asian characters is notifications and buttons from apps ("Are you sure you want to exit?"). Random Latin characters appear in the navigation menus, tabs, and other places on several websites, on several browsers; Netflix's app also has random floating characters on its buttons and "floating" about. I'm not sure what setting I could change to fix this. The tablet was re-flashed to its original firmware, just in case something was corrupted, and is not currently rooted. (It was before the restore; no detectable difference.)

welcome to the forums!!!

unfortunately you will not find much support on off brand devices. i have never heard of your device before. i'm not sure what you can do. usually switching languages in the input language option in the phone's settings should switch out. however, i have noticed that when you switch lang, not everything gets switched.....but i think that is the price you pay with these chinese tablets.
