What is ninja'd?

Means i answered and asked first.

What is best about summer?

Spring here tends to get too hot and muggy too quickly (at least in recent years) whereas autumn has nice cool nights and mornings with warm days.

Have you travelled much?

I've seen parts of Australia, have driven 1,000 miles west to Adelaide (spent three months there) and flown 2,000 miles west to Perth (only spent two or three weeks there) and have spent much time on the north coast of New South Wales (my home state) both driving and hitch hiking, and have hitch hiked as far north as Bundaberg, half way up the Queensland coast. Drove to Melbourne, about 600 miles south about thirty years ago (spent two weeks there). Aside from those I've done lots of day tripping around Sydney. Still lots more I want to see before I'd even consider going overseas. Unfortunately I can't go to the states as I was a bad bad boy a number of years ago...

Ever been in real trouble?

Usually saltwater estuary, I've been known to be berley boy when I've been outside fishing.

Do you prefer to catch and release or catch and eat?

If I'm hungry and going for a favorite, catch and eat, otherwise, catch and release is fine.

And sometimes, I practice not catching. I'll dunk a line without bait just to sit by the water for a pleasant day of planned non-catching.

Ever try that?

I'll set aside a bit to lose while playing for fun in a casino while waiting to catch a show. I've walked away with more than I started with at times, and that just turns into fancier drinks or food later. I'm not sure that's gambling but I know it's not not gambling either.

If you gamble, what's your favorite?

No, but many other species. They tend to be very timid, but I don't know if they'll take a baited hook. It wouldn't surprise me if they do. I've only ever seen one marine turtle in Sydney estuarine waters, but many snake necked turtles in fresh water creeks, dams and rivers.

When are you heading down this way to go fishing with me?

I actually use a hand line more often than not. A simple eggbeater did me fine when I had a couple of rods. I only ever fish with light line and just enough lead to get me to the bottom. Live bait where possible too.

And you?

I like the versatility of a spinning reel. Good for lures, minnows and even flies. A bit limited for each category but reliable as an all-in-one. Plus I like how much easier they are to clean and service compared to others. I don't own an expensive one, I'm content that low cost, low tech tackle is good enough.

Do you gig (spear) frogs down there?

No. All native animals (and birds) are protected. The only introduced amphibian I'm aware of is the cane toad (from South America) which was bought in to combat the cane beetle which is a sugar cane pest. They settled in and eat everything but. They're decimating our small carnivores (they're highly toxic) as they spread across the tropical north. Very very few of our snakes can withstand their bufotoxins. In recent years they've been found as far south as Sydney, having presumably hitch hiked in loads on trucks or in holidaymakers cars when they head home. I could go on but will probably get ninja'd if I do.

Do you use said frogs for bait, or eat them?

Norgen Vaaz, or if you're asking about our domestic brands, Streets Blue Ribbon for ice cream that comes in a tub, or Weis bars.

Do you get Lindt chocolate there?

I'll get some pics up over the weekend if i can. Shouldn't be a problem, going to the art gallery Saturday with a mate to see the Archibald exhibition, I'll get him to take a couple. (The Archibald Prize is Australia's premier annual portrait competition.)

Do you get out to the art galleries around town often? Aside from small local galleries (years ago) this is my first time in one of the major public galleries.
