Why did the touchpad on my laptop just stop working?

Source: I have my own computer repair company.

1) Did you accidently turn it off via function key on the keyboard? Try looking for that.

2) Also, open up device manager on your computer and make sure the device is working properly. Try step one first. If that fails, roll back the driver in device manager. Or, try looking up the driver using your model number of your computer on your manufacturer's website, and uninstall and then reinstall the driver. The driver could just be outdated.

I tried step one before I posted. Had to borrow a mouse to do anything after that. Went into device manager and found that it was supposedly working ok, didn't change anything, and when I left device manager it started working again. One of life's little mysteries...
 
yes..it's the one that just comes for a visit but stays for eternity!!!:D
