So I went to best buy yesterday and picked up a tab 10.1 and asked for white. Best buy guy says "oh i think all we have is white" ok thats what i want. Get the box and it doesnt say which color it is. Get home and find out its the gray. I guess my question is How can you tell which color it is from the box?

Its in the SKU/model number on the sticker above the UPC code on the box.

GTP7510MAYB is gray

GTP7510WYXAB is white

Best Buy employees do not have an education so they would be the last people to rely on. They are basically McDonalds employees.

Thats sort of funny, I asked for metallic grey and got white. Once I got home I discovered that as well, but after looking at it, it really makes no difference, I thought it meant the color around the screen like the iPad. Now that I have my cover, it hides the back color anyway.

You could always just exchange it. I don't believe there's a restocking fee for tablets.

Thats what i did. Took them forever to find one in white even though they had 7 in stock. White also looks better (my opinion) then that grayish blue

Samsung really should have made it clearer on the SKU label instead of just indicating it by the tiny model number which you still can't tell without knowing which number is which. The guys at my BB took a while to figure that out as well but I couldn't totally blame them - they had to go to the computer just to make sure after scouring the box for any details.

I imagine it doesn't make much of a difference if you're going to have a case that would cover it anyway, though.

I thought that I was going to get white today but ended up with the metallic gray. I think it has a more professional look and I really like the brushed metal look.

I asked for white and got grey also.

Went back to BB and they couldn't find the white ones but the computer stated they had 10.

They let me keep the grey one for 3 days until they found the white on. They also gave me 5% off my total purchase, a free Zagg screen protector and install.

The grey back is much better than the white IMO. Its got this nice brushed finish to it so you dont have to worry about scratches much.

And you look like an iPad user, IMO. I wanted it to specifically look different PLUS I think it looks sleek and sexy.

I don't think anyone can accidentally mistake the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the iPad 2. For one thing, the dimensions are so different and then the back is a dark gray with no Apple logo.

I would probably agree with you if it hadn't of happened while I had a grey one and then again tonight with my white one. Oh well.
