Help Assigned ringtone not working for text

Anyone know how to get the assigne ringtone for a contact to work instead of the default? It works when the people call, but not text?

Thats because the ringtone is a ringtone. Text messages use a "notification" tone.

Correct.

I just picked this tip up earlier today...

Set up three folders in the root of your SD card. Don't use capitalization for the folder names.

notifications
ringtones
alarms

Put the desired sound into the desired folder; phone will now know what it is.

You can not add to a system folder. If you would like to create your own ringtones and notifications then follow Kwthom's instructions in the above post.
