Root Assonance 5.0

So just flashed to Assonance 5.0 (w/OC) from Cognition and I gotta say this is pretty awesome. I really like the little touch ups he did here and there that seem minor but to me it's just awesome. For example, the little touch up done on the Swype keyboard is just awesome........I give myself about 5 days before I get the urge to flash another one. Any recommendations on what to try next?

i tried Cognition and Perception but had minor issues with each. Assonance 5 (with JL3 modem) has given me NO problems, excellent battery life, and a very nice look. i think i've finally found my ROM.

I've been using Assonance 5.0 for a few days and haven't found a single thing to cause me concern. It's fast with no lags and no FCs. FYI, Eclair lags were my primary reason for adopting a custom ROM. If there were no other ROM updates for the life of my phone I wouldn't care. That's how satisfied I am with Assonance 5.0.

It's like having a completely different phone, isn't it?

I am new to the rooting scene and Assonance 5.0 was the first ROM that I loaded. It's a very clean ROM and I haven't experienced any issues other than terrible battery life, although I did wipe battery stats in clockworkmod and adjusted some display and sound settings yesterday, so we'll see if that helps with the battery (I am getting 12-13 hours with VERY mild use - some emails and texts, and wordfeud).

One thing that I did have a question about - I've read that people will use a different kernel and/or modem than the ones that come with Assonance. What is the benefit of using a different kernel and/or modem and how would I replace the ones that came with Assonance?

Absolutely. And, BTW, my satisfaction with Assonance is not a dis to your favoring Eugene's ROM. I just haven't found an "excuse" yet to move on.

I just don't care anymore what Samsung does or when they do it. Like breathing fresh air!

Lol. Not trying to push a new rom on you. I think if you have found something you really like, why change.

Btw, I really think gingerbread will get ported over before the"official" froyo comes out for us. It really is so nice not having to rely on samsung/at&t for updates.

I'm turning into a ROM whore. Gonna try Aux. tonight. But I'm REALLY liking Assonance so far. So I might end up just coming back to Assonance.

I was on Assonance till I started getting Com.android.phone Fc...and i was like what a phone which cannot make a call...

So I looked for another Rom..and saw Darky's rom.. its basically for I9000's but it has been ported to Captivate...Its more smoother then assonance and I like the feel on GB here more...

If u guys wanna switch from Assonance definately try this one...

Went from cog to perception to cog b8 to perception 9.5. Loving perception 9.5, I flashed it last night after it came out.

Does this make me a DG Whore? lol

I tried Darky's Rom 7.0 as my first ever rom then to 7.5 and had some issues with it. Maybe it was something I did along the way, but my speakers didn't work and the aux input didn't work properly. The home button wasn't bringing me back home so to speak. Flashed it 30 minutes ago and everything works fine. Gonna stick with Assonance 5.2. Hopefully it'll work out.

You're gonna love Serendipity then.

The icons for downloading an app, that annoying notification for USB Debugging, the Camera app having AT&T Online locker, the dialer/contacts are skinned, I fixed some of Samsung's broken English, etc. etc. etc.

Is it better?
