If you have Astrid synced to your calendars you should avoid updating. Calendar sync is now a paid option/add on. Fortunately i had the older version archived and was able to switch back.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.

Luckily I saw this post before updating any apps this morning. If you have Astrid synced to your calendars you should avoid updating. Calendar sync is now a paid option/add on. Fortunately i had the older version archived and was able to switch back.
@ChiTownJim: There's a note on their appbrain page about what to try if updating caused you to lose some tasks.
From that page:
"Lost tasks on update? try this http://bit.ly/astridrescue"
Just downloaded ANOTHER update. It appears that you can go back to the older versions, and try out the paid features for a while I guess. I did NOT go back to the old version because it works for me as follows:
I use a widget called Agenda Widget, which displays all my calendars as well as Gtasks and Astrid tasks. It works really great with lots of customization. Anyways, by creating a specific date, it shows up on the agenda, which is like being on my calendar. If I want something to show up on my actual calendar, I don't use Astrid.
I agree it was shady to take out free features and charge for them now. Oddly, I can't figure out how to go back to the old version, because I didn't click on the link right away.
WTF? Just found this out and I'm disappointed now. I use Pure Calendar Widget and even though there is an option to sync tasks from Astrid, it no longer does so!
What Calendar and Task apps are people going to use instead? GTasks doesn't seem as nice as Astrid.
