Help Astro file manager question

lesawag

Android Enthusiast
Hi all,
Just a quick question about Astro file manager... I need to make folders for my pictures and my wallpapers. Do I have to use my laptop to make these folders and move the pictures and wallpapers into these folders? I know i should have a folder for my ringtones as well...Im not sure how to move these things into the folders. Ive never hooked up my Evo to my laptop. Im use to using Blackberry Desk top manager.Lol.
Thank you so much :) I hope soon I will not have to ask such dumb questions. I was a Blackberry user for over 5 years, and I had mastered those....it was really hard to leave something I knew so well and jump to Android. Im reading these forums everyday trying to learn all I need to know. I wonder why it took me so long to leave Blackberry?? :D

Thanks again:)

Astro -> Menu -> New(+) will get you a new folder.

This is a great thread for correct folder layout - http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/5930-definitive-androids-folder-structure.html

And mostly - you can plug your Evo into any Mac or PC, mount the SD card like it's a USB thumbdrive - and do any drag&drop&etc you want.

But - you can do most anything in Astro - hint: Menu -> Edit and Menu -> Tools, good stuff.

Under Edit, select all to choose all files, copy, paste to new location as needed.

Hope this helps!

Once again, you are the best!!! You must be the true Evo guru...LOL I really appreciate all the hard work and time you put in this forum. :) Where would this forum be without you??

Thanks again,
Lesa

Hey thanks, but it's all teamwork - probably most of what I pass on is just that - the great advice others gave when I had the same questions! :)

BTW - You use a Mac, don't you? I know your daughter does...

With Astro, you can connect wirelessly - just go to Network prefs under Mac settings, turn on file sharing, then under Network in Astro, provide username login. My wife copies here phone pictures wirelessly to the Mac that way, then just imports them into her iPhoto.

The same thing will work with Windows - I'd have to re-search the posts with the equivalent config setups for that.

Another cool app is RemoteDroid - makes your phone a trackpad with two mouse buttons and a keyboard - AOK with Mac and Windows.

When you're done xferring stuff to your PC (either kind) you can reach for the mouse to finish the job on the PC - or - just fire up RemoteDroid and do all from one spot.

Can work with wifi or Bluetooth (wifi is generally faster tho).

If you want to try those things out or want more info, please reply in this thread, thanks.

Hey thanks, RemoteDroid sounds really great, I will have to try it. I finally got all the mess on my Astro file organized...took awhile, but its done. :) . I cant believe I did not even think about trying to do the Astro stuff wirelessly...Lol Thanks for the ideas and help. :)
